Storm Lures, not so bad..

I really cant and could never stand their (Storms) hard lures, but I have been fishing with a few of their swimbaits and they just flat out produce. They have been the only thing catching fish for me the last couple days. If your looking for a decent swimbait that dont cost too much give Storms Wildeye series a shot or some of their other swimbaits, you (like me) might just end up suprised at how well they perform.

Gameover, how exactly are you fishing these lures?Is there a trick to them.I bought some last year, after reading In-Fisherman mag, it seems every issue they came out with they were ranting and raving about how these lures catch fish.Not just bass but pike and walleye too.

I havn't had so much as a bite on them.I don't even have them in my tackle box anymore,beings I'v lost all confidence in them.Is there something I'm missing?Do you swim them,drag um,jig um or hop um?I just can't get bit.

Well you need to get your confidence back, tie them on, then cast em out in and/or around Bass holding areas. Then you can fish them just about anyway you can imagine. I will cast them out let them sit for about 10 seconds then start with a stop and go steady retrive, you can add tiny jerks here and there as well. They do work so dont give up on em.

i got a few of their 5 inch swim baits, they work well for the price, the key is to fish them super slow imo.

their smaller swimbaits dont work for me at all though

On storm swimbaits ive caught bass, snook, flounder,gar, ciclids, grouperand i even caught 1 tilapia only because it was spawning and i made it mad

If you had the Storm hardbaits that were imported I can understand your dismay I had some they SUCKED but if you can some older American made ones there's a world of difference.

Storm Thunderstick Junior is one of the best stickbaits ever made, IMO.

Swimbaits worked for me pretty good, but only in 3.  Their Live series is much better  balanced than the regular one and is my bait of choice for several different conditions

I AGREE WITH YOU SERBIA, THE THUNDERSTICK JR. HAS PUT MANY BASS IN MY LIVEWELL. IT'S A GREAT SHALLOW WATER BAIT.

Yep, you've got to get the pre-Rapala buyout Storm crankbaits, especially the wiggle warts in order to get them that really catch fish.  I've heard nothing good about the 1st generation Rapala wiggle warts nor the newer "original" wiggle warts.

You can find them on Ebay NIB all the time.  They can get pretty pricey.

I had a couple trips this last year where the wiggle warts really out shined other crankbaits for smallies and large mouth.I'v actually grown a little partial to them cause of the luck I have had with them.They will always have a place in my tackle box.The Storm Hot N Tots are another story though.I 've had a little success with them but nothing to wright home to momma about.

Hey im sure they have some great hard lures, they just dont work for me though. If you can get some of the hard lures they make to work for you way to go, I give you props as I cant catch diddly which is maybe my fault as an angler using them in the wrong situation.

I've heard nothing good about the 1st generation Rapala wiggle warts

I have had nothing but praise for the Storm Wild Eyes swim baits.    The warts have with stood time and still produce, the thunder sticks, well, there just too many other good jerk baits out there on the market, so I haven't given them a shot because I didn't need to.

I like the 5" swim baits. They've done well for me. The key, I think, is to retrieve them very slow and steady. Try one out in shallow water where you can see the action. You'll know when you've hit the right speed when you see the bait do a little side-to-side "searching" action. That erratic movement is the key, and you can't get it by doing any twitching or jerking. It takes a steady crank at just the right speed.

Not all of the Storm baits will do this. That's my only knock on them. About one out of four just won't work. But, they are cheap enough to just throw away the ones that don't work.

I let them hit the bottom, then start the crank. When that doesn't work, I'll count them down to different depths just to experiment. For me, just off the bottom has been the best by far. Crnkin one down a point, or up , instead of across has also been better.

Went to a small pond in my development tonight with a 5" Storm Wildeye Shad tied on...  fished for 45 minutes before dinner and nailed a 3lb 10oz LMB.  The fish inhaled it!!!  And then the mosquitoes nailed me!!!  ;D

Gotta Love It what were you thinking. You should have known the mosquitoes were going to be nailing you. ;D If you saltwater fish those 5" storm wildeye work great for snook in the canal and rivers this time of year. Also, congrats on your bass. Where in Tampa are you?

I live in Seffner (Just north of Brandon, 30 minutes east of Tampa).  I knew the mosquitoes would be out but I needed to get my fishing fix for the night!  Thanks for the saltwater advice... My buddy at work is a big snook fisherman and he gave me the Storm to try for bass.  Needless to say, I will be using it again!!!!

I have been using the newer Storm swimbaits with mixed results.

I tried quite a bit their "European" baitfish designs, especially the "Roach", which is a very realistic imitation of the actual thing (European Roach, Rutilus rutilus), which happens to be the dominant prey for LMB here in Cyprus. Have yet had to have a strike, in either the 3" or 4" versions. Had a single strike on their "Bluegill" design (which sort of looks like Tilapia, another prey for LMB over here) in maybe 50 casts - and missed it.

On the other hand, I am very happy with their Kickin'Minnow series. Their 4" model has worked well for me in several colors, and recently I obtained some 6" ones but didn't really have a serious chance to try them hard. A friend though who also obtained the 6" models has already had a 5 lber on the 6" Firetiger Kickin'Minnow - on his first attempt using them.

I also have yet to try the Crawfish imitation from the same series. I've got some, and I believe they should produce - the thing looks almost real.

Of course no complaint about that old reliable, the Chuckbug... I've got several (from before the Rapala takeover) in various colors and sizes and they have all caught their share for me...
