nickb Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 How would you guys reel it in? Fast, slow, stop, go? Quote
CRFisher Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I tend to alternate but in general I prefer a slower retrieve, with an occassional pause. Quote
kms399 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 pretty slow which ever way makes the most noise. stop it every now and then Quote
fathom Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 depends...will usually vary the retrieve til the fish tell me. that said, if near structure, will always bump that structure with the bait and kill it...they will usually nail it when you start it back up again. Quote
Triton21 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I love to fish them slow paralleling weeds. If any opening or points in the weeds stop when you get to them. Kelley Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted March 29, 2009 Super User Posted March 29, 2009 Slow and steady Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 29, 2009 Super User Posted March 29, 2009 I use a steady retrieve. I don't know if it's slow or medium, it's the speed that seems right to me. Quote
baboosicbass08 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I have good luck with a slow retrieve but most of the time i dont even get to start the retrieve before i get a hit Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I fish mainly shore and have had the most luck retrieving slowly with occasional pauses along the shore. Always seem to get hit during the pause or immediately after restarting. Eddie Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 30, 2009 Super User Posted March 30, 2009 I do a stop and go retrieve, varying my speeds unless I'm fishing at night. At night I will use a steady retrieve. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 30, 2009 Super User Posted March 30, 2009 I use a slow & steady retrieve to give the bass something to key in on. Tip: with a pair of needle nose pliers, bend the bottom of both lips forward just a bit. Will dramatically increase the "blurping"! Quote
bassin is addicting Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 i agree. slow and steady. the "blurping" noise will let you know. i was told to hold rod high so there is a nice bow to it. that helps to get the "bug" making all the noise. i love fishing my bug. my boater made fun of me last year when i kept throwin it in a night tourney. til i caught 3 nice keepers. he said he hadn't seen anyone throw one for a long time. would like to know if he went and bought one. ha! Super User CWB Posted March 31, 2009 Super User Posted March 31, 2009 One of my top night baits. Slow and steady until something attacks it. Then adjust retrieve accordingly until he's in the boat. ;D Don't use during the day much. Quote
