Looking at the length compared to the rod, I would say around 18" long and 3.5 lb. Its not fat, overly round or full of eggs so anything more than that I think is typical fisherman "add 3 inches and 3 pounds"...

That is a short butt handled rod so it is 12" from front of reel to end of butt, so another 6" gives the length of the fish... Its not fat, overly round or full of eggs so the weight is much lower than what some think.

Without any other information, all anyone can do is estimate the weight based on whatever is available to make an educated guess. I used the boat seat on the aluminum boat the fish is laying on and guessed at that being 12" wide. The boat seat could be 10", however most aluminum boats used a standard 12" wide bench seat. Whatever; the bass is clearly about twice as long as the seat is wide, about 2" less, and the rod/reel confirms that. At the end of the day an accurate scale eliminates the guess work. it's still fun to try to estimate weights.

My aluminum boat seats are 15" wide. :)

I am going to guess 5#s. Do you have any measurements, or a weight I am just curious. See if we have anyone close.

I'd say about 5 lbs and don't worry bout these guys raggin on you about your seats. I'm sure your seats are cleaner than their hands lol and anyone that lays a fish on the ground to take a picture is doing alot worse than you are because they are getting trash in their gills.

If I could see it filleted and in a skillet I could make a better guestimate.

1-6lbs otherwise.

Was digging through my junk and found my PB largemouth picture.

How much do you think she weighs?

Ok it's time to tell how the bass weighs.

If you hadn't taken the picture you could of said it weighed any amount but since you did, I'd say 4-5½ lbs. Now you can't tell everyone a tall fish story. Usually when I take a camera along I don't catch anything worth taking a picture of.

heh heh, fisherman are fairly superstitious it seems - I have seen that camera comment a number of times on here  ;)
