I had a question for all you anglers. How often do you make a cast somewhere with this great feeling that you are going to catch a fish, simply based on the fact that the scenery is just so spectacular? Either early morning sunrise, or late afternoon sunsets, I'll be casting towards the sun and just see a pocket or point around some grassline or structure and tell myself this is going to catch a fish. I always call it out and I almost always pull out a fish. I visualize it happening and it almost always works. Maybe it's just the fact the spot you know has fish regardless, but something about the scenery always makes me make casts in a certain direction because it looks the best.

Haha.... the imfamous "This looks good!".   Seems like every time I pull up to a place (especially if I feel like beating the bank) and I think it looks like bass should be there I never catch one.

I think this is more with areas for me though than particular spots.  There are definately spots on weedlines, trees, etc where I cast and feel extremely confident about my chances.

It's called establishing a pattern ;)

Some times it's as simple as hitting a stump with your cast, hardwood tress instead of softwood, hydrilla instead of coontail, bare spots in a grass flat, killing your bait next to cover.

Is it always that easy? Absolutely not!

And yes many times you can call your shots!

When the conditions are scenic, be it the colors of fall, or a mist shrouding a mirror surface, anticipation is high.

If that scenic cast results in a strike, it's the cherry on top of the sundae.  Just being in such an environment and having an appreciation for it is sufficient reward.

I got somewhat of a funny story for this. I was fishing a small lake in WV called Plum Orchard. I was fishing out of my old V bottom John Boat. I oared around a point coming into a cove. On the other side of the point, it hit me. Poop Cramp!! I was almost doubled over in agony. I started for the bank. I looked where i was wanting to go. Little isolated pocket right off bank, with lilly pads on both sides. I knew there was fish there. So , in pain and almost crapping myself i made a cast. BAM! Hooked up, reeled in the little 12 incher, and oared like hell for the bank.

The thing that amazes me most about this group is their dedication.
