CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 What pros are coming to your Bass Pro Spring Fishing Classic?Last year i got awesome pros:Brian Snowden,Alton Jones, Jay Yelas, and some other guys.(Manteca Bass Pro) Sadly, this year i got guys that I've never even heard of or seen before, and i get 2 coming on the day I'm going, and one of them's a flyfishermen. The guy that's there thats a normal conventional angler isn't even like a BASS or FLW so i have never heard of him.Im kinda dissapointed.but anyways what pros did you guys get? Bass_Akwards Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 I'm confused. I just called my local BPS. Every year they've had 2 or 3 Elite series guys come and give lectures and stuff. We had Alton Jones and Clunn here the year Alton won the classic. 5 minutes ago the girl in charge of promotions at BPS Denver told me there's NO Elite series pro's coming this year? I asked "Why?" and she said "There's a fishing tournament going on when we have our spring classic." HUH!?!?! Then why does eveyone else in the country get to have Elite series pros at the same exact time? I just don't get it. She also told me the Elite Series tour lost 30 fishermen and that made it harder to get guys to come in. HUH?! No offense to Jaime Howard, but that's all we get? Jeeze. This sucks. I want Reese, I want KVD, I want Duckett! Come ON BPS, learn how to schedual for goodness sake! Quote

Yes you are confused if you think top Elite pros are going to come to your back woods BPS the day before the Bassmasters Classic starts. : Quote
Bass_Akwards Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Francho did you really not get what I said? I'm confused as to why the mighty BPS has had Elite series pro's here in Denver for past spring classics, and suddenly in 2010 they don't have a single one coming? Same with other cities. How hard is it for a giant in the industry (BPS) to schedual their biggest event of the year (the spring classic) on days where the Elite series guys aren't fishing THEIR biggest event of the year. (the classic) They seem to schedual Elite series pro's every other year so what gives in 2010? I'll say it again....."This sucks." Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 18, 2010 Super User Posted February 18, 2010 No, it is you that don't get it. Why do you think BPS calls it the Classic? Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 The classic lost plenty of anglers this year (retirement, switching to other tourneys, whatever), so that means more fishing in the tourneys/classics and less to visit the various stores. I found the listing online for who is going where... Hopefully this link works for you guys, this one shows the listing for my local Destin, FL store. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CFPage?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&appID=163&option=3&template=circular.cfm&catalog=sfcpop_10_tab&rfx_versioningid=016&storeID=17 edit: looks like Feb 28 we get Boyd Duckett and Fred Roumbanis... whoever that is... For Colorado, looks like the closest options there will be Oklahoma or Iowa Quote

CAdeltaLipRipper Posted February 19, 2010 Author Posted February 19, 2010 No, it is you that don't get it. Why do you think BPS calls it the Classic? Uhhhhhhh because its a classic awesome superduper califragilisticexpialidocious sale ever. And last year the classic was over when the Spring Classic started Quote

rondef Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Woo Daves is here in Virginia again. He was behind the fishing counter this past Saturday making recommendations on baitcasting reels to customers. His seminar last year that he did in the Richmond BPS store last year was a disappointment. I will be going to see the local guide seminars instead this year. Quote

SBM-RL Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 yeah in Michigan the walleye fisherman got spoiled and the bass guys got forgotten about. Usually we have an awesome line up but this year i only saw 2 walleye fisherman. Quote
Jaben Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Ill have to check and se but itll be Broken Arrow Oklahoma. Quote
Dinky Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I heard that a lot of the Elite fishermen lost sponsors--due to the economy. Guess that could explain the reduction in number of Elite pros. Quote
