Olebiker Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I got the mail in the other day and found that my wife had ordered a Shaw Grigsby fishing video from Netflix for me. She was dismayed, though, when I told her it was the guy whose voice she complained about. Quote
oteymc Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 I love to watch any fishing show, and do when I happen to be inside when one is on. I don't even mind when someone is pitching a product, but you would think people would take it more seriously, and consider buying the product if the plugs were a little more subtle. Then again, that may be the approach the sponsors are mandating to these guys. Quote
SoFl-native Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 What is up with the fake water sounds in that show? I think they are the only show that does that and it is the most annoying thing in the world. Somebody in that production company should be fired for that. Quote
Super User Tin Posted February 4, 2010 Super User Posted February 4, 2010 This was brought up previously, I thought it was either skin cancer or he had Lyme disease treatments. Either way the show is basically an infomercial for Strike King. Guy is a great sales-man and a great guy to chat with. Have had several opportunities to meet and talk with him and despite is annoying tendencies on tv, he is a great down to earth guy unlike a lot of others. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted February 4, 2010 Super User Posted February 4, 2010 I never thought about protection from overexposure. That make sense. i agree about pushin the power pole. At one point I thought the show would go like this Shaw: "I really have to take a leak, watch as I put the POWER POLE down so I don't hit my leg." Announcer: " POWER POLE, so you can hit the cheerio every time.... (fade to a sunset) I literally laughed hysterically when i heard that....My wife was reading her book when i watched that and she had to look up at the TV for a second wondering what the heck i was watching.Even she laughed. I say that all the time now to just random people. They'd be cracking up.You'd be surprise how funny that sounds. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted February 4, 2010 Super User Posted February 4, 2010 you got to love when he goes from normal voice to OH MY GOD HE HAMMERED IT, that is what makes the show great ;D Yeah, that's true and I don't really mind the high pitch intonations, because I interpret that as geniune excitement. You did forget, "Oh my God, he just PUMMELLED it. He just absolutely PUMMELLED it!" Right on, Shaw! 8-) Quote

Stay with me...c'mon...OH THERE'S ONE RIGHT BEHIND HIM!" Quote
noogai13 Posted February 5, 2010 Posted February 5, 2010 The chemicals on your hand are transfered anytime you touch your baits. He is prob trying to keep that from happening. With as clear as the water was in that episode(I assume you mean the Lake Ontario episode), then the bass need little more help than sight alone. That being said, I completely agree with you. You think he was pushing power pole just a little? HAHA! I have never seen anyone so excited, fish after fish. Although I have to admit, it was strangley odd how many fish were swarming around their boat.......just sayin' That's why I love watching him on TV. He strikes me as someone who genuinely loves fishing, and would be out there doing it whether they paid him or not. x2 I think it would be a blast to fish with him. 8-) x3 He's like me, only he catches a lot more fish.
