Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 1, 2010 Super User Posted February 1, 2010 This past Saturday morning, 6 casts, 6 bass, 2 over 5#, per my 20" mark on my rod. That's as far back as my records go. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted February 1, 2010 Super User Posted February 1, 2010 Wow I suck If you are willing to take a roadtrip that attitude would change. I'll fish Champlain. I'll pick Robby up on the way. Let me know when. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 1, 2010 Super User Posted February 1, 2010 16" and 4lbs! Do they even look like "bass"! ;D I assume they fed? Those had to be some football shaped fish. What a wild day! I've had days where I have caught 20 plus fish that were 17 - 18 inches but in my neck of the woods, those fish are only 3 lbs or so. Also, at that size I'm not measuring and weighing too many of them. The best that I can remember was two 6 lb'ers and one over 4 on the same day. I honestly do not think I have ever caught four bass over 4 lbs on the same day, but I could be wrong. Quote
TimJ Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 summer 2008, on StClair. my sons and I put 3 SM in the boat over 5 but nothing else bigger than 3, even though we bagged a ton of fish that day. can't remember #s but we used to clean up on Erie in the fall many years ago. many, many over 4 in a day, fishing sunup to sundown. I'd have to say 4 or 5 LM over 4, multiple times up here, in several different locations in southern Ontario. Quote
lightsout Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 April 07' fishing a 10acre lake in amelia, va. Theres a section where the dam ends and the water transcends from cattails to about 13' within 30' from shore. I took my grandfather with me on this paticular day. I caught 9 over 5lbs on a black secret weapon buzzbait (two 9lb+) in about an hour and a half. When the buzzbaits slowed we used minnows and proceded to catch another 8 on stream caught minnows. One of the my favorite memories. After catching each of the first 3 fish, I sprinted down to him with the bass so he he could see it, and take a pic. After the 3rd fish he says "maybe I'll fish closer to you" and he came down and fished side by side with me. He had recently been diagnosed with parkinson's as well as alsheimer's, and that day will always bring a smile to my face. Quote
farmpond1 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 On an average outing? None. On an above average outing? None. On a "3 standard deviations above the mean" outing? One. Quote
A-Rob Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 maybe 2 or 3 in 5 hours....on a jig/pig and topwater buzzfrog. Georgian Bay. Up here in the north we have some big fish, but they aren't as common as you fellas down south. Quote
StingerJon11 Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 about 10 over 4lbs in 5hours drop shotting in southern california. Quote
midnighthrasher Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 The best i have ever done is 1 fish over 4 pounds on a outing. 1, 2, 3 lbers are much more common. A 4 lber is a big deal for me!!! Next year i will be trying a few more lakes. Lake St-Francois is only a 20 minute drive for me and they have some of the best smallmouth fishing in canada. It was on that lake that the 30.35lb bag was caught last year. But on my home lake 1-2 4lbers us a awesome day. Quote
soccplayer07 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 wow you're alive!!! where you been man? Quote
shimmy Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 me? Even if your not asking me i will reply! I have been so busy with school. I am trying to get a few weeks ahead in all of my work so come the end of the month, i'm hitting the water again. I am excited for the NOVA tourneys this spring. Once we start laying into them we should keep track of how many 6+ pound bass are caught. Should be interesting. And of course, pictures will be required to verify. I get a little tired of people throwing numbers out there without the proof. The NOVA gang will rise this spring i tell you Quote
soccplayer07 Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 I always have an open seat for you. let me know when you want to crush the Potomac. Quote
