...but are off limits for whatever reason. Mine is a pond that sits in between the North and South lanes of the Garden State Parkway at milepost 4 outside of Cape May, New Jersey. This isn't the Turnpike and refinery part of Jersey everyone knows, it's actually rural. For those not familiar with the Parkway, it's a major toll road that runs pretty much all of the Jersey coast. You can't park anywhere on it and it is heavily patrolled by state police.

The pond is not big, but it's got bass written all over it. A few fishing boat captains I know who grew up around there tell me they used to sneak there as kids and fish it at night. They all said it was awesome. Bass that had never seen a lure would crush anything that hit the water.

NO, I've never fished it and don't plan to. I'm not suggesting anyone break the law. I just can't help but think "what if" every time I drive by.... ::)

Anyone else have a similar spot ?

Are these the aqueducts everyone films car chase scenes in ? I assume they are off limits to the public ?

There is a small lake cannel going through shoreline neighborhood houses, at the end of the cannel the water opens up a bit to a small pound. There is a bridge that goes over it but it's at a neck of a cul-de-sac, with signs posted every where no fishing. I know bass are there with the shade and current it's a dream spot especially with the small pound having a lot of vegetation. You just can't get to it all, because of the property surrounding it. The bridge is the only way.

Honestly I will fish it before I die ::)(I'm only 16)........

I know of a few spots that I'd love to get a line into, but are off limits, namely local farm ponds, out in the middle of nowhere... you talk about Florida large mouth that have never seen a lure, and have populated those ponds for 100 years or more... this is why I believe the world record bass could come out of florida. but another one that I know of, I tried to fish,I had just seen it through some woods, saw a trail back to it, no signs or anything denoting it being off limits, got to it and it wasa beautiful, maybe 50 acre little lake, with pencil grass lining the whole edge...caught a couple dinks, before the land owner promptley kicked us out, and called the cops >:(

seriously, if you don't want people fishing your land, put up signs, or even better, a fence!

This isn't really really off limits or unusual, but I would love to fish outside of North Carolina.

I know of a pond that is maybe 35 acres just outside of Frost Proof FL in the middle of an orange grove. My father-n-law is a contractor and harvests the groves near by and says there is always someone patrolling the area! The place is lined with cattails, reeds, pads you name it!           :(

I live about 5 minutes away from Wynn Pond located in Peachtree City, GA. This pond was in the movie 'Sweet Home Alabama' where the guy would fly in and out of with his plane with the 'lightning glass' he was selling.

Absolutely fantastic looking place but off limits because it's owned by 'old money'. I've considered going up to one of the homes there offering to tune up their air conditioning in exchange for fishing there.

Any Resevoir in any grove in Florida. They have zero fishing pressure and have been there for god knows how long. Not to mention the numerous lakes on the Adams Ranch in St. Lucie and Okeechobee counties that have never seen a lure. ;D

No, youre thinking of the LA River and all the drainage canals around there I think.

The aqueduct runs from the San Joaquin River Delta in northern california, and runs all the way to the greater LA area.

It is the biggest crock of **** I have ever seen. All of our water is sold to the central valley and southern california.

We get reservoirs that are 150ft low, nearly non-existant salmon runs, and a completely unstable Delta.

Southern California gets full reservoirs and water they do not deserve >:(

F the aqueduct.

On an episode of City Limits Fishing I just watched (I don't know how old it was) Mike Iaconelli caught some bass out of Central Park in NYC. I got a kick out of it for some reason and would love to take some fishing poles there too.

Also I wouldn't mind getting some line wet at:

-Loch Ness

-Niagra Falls

-The Taj Mahal Reflecting Pool

Just about 80% of all the water you see around Florida is "off limits" except the super high pressure public lakes. :( ::)

The phosphate pits around here.....Good god, I'll just stop there :-/

There's a pond about 10 minutes away from my house that a buddy says is bass heaven, but has no fishing signs all around it.

There is nothing like the taste of forbidden fruit.

Nearly every bass fishermen at some time has fished where they shouldn't. The time to be a pioneer and search for out of the way private bass lakes or ponds is when you are young enough not to be responsible for your actions. Adults tend to be arrested. Try to get permission to fish private ponds or lakes, no harm in asking, could be painful if you don't.

Yeah all of the ponds I used to fish a few months back when I still had my job as a Surveyor, I had some of the BEST honey holes that I could ONLY access because I was "working" ;) That was the only thing I miss about my job, my best fish came when I was "on the clock"  ;D
