Best fishing magazine?

What is the best fishing magazine maybe not for just bass but every kinda freshwater fish out there

There is no "best" magazine.  It all depends upon your preferences.  The absolute BEST way to learn about bass fishing is to read the articles that have been published on this web site.

Mike speaks the truth.  There's so much information available in the articles at the top of this forum you'd be wasting your time buying magazines.

I agree with the above posts that this site is great and a free source of information. As far as magazines, I'd say In-Fisherman for multi-species and Bassin for purely bass

Bassmasters Magazine is not one I would recomend, it has taken a nose dive from the ugly tree.

I agree with the first first few post but i just like reading them and i have read infisherman and i like it i was just wonderin if there was another multi species magazine that could be better

For multi-species I get In-Fisherman and North American Fisherman. They are very similar and informative. For bass I get Bass Master and Bassin'. Bassin' is the better of the two.

Agreed that Bassin is better than Bassmaster but this site has a ton of information and there are many other websites with good information too. Videos are fun to watch, especially when it's too cold to fish... like when the lakes are frozen.

Ok Heres one for the record books- I give my vote to Dozer-He writes some of the best articles in the fishing industry. Very well defined-very descriptive very knowledged in many areas of fishing-good pictures- very articulated-still a pain in the A$$ though-Second has to be Bass west. Ok Im through!

Actually, there are two basic types of fishing publications: 'National' and 'State',

and in my opinion receiving one of each is the way to go.

With a good National magazine it's easy to stay abreast of the latest lures,

National tournament results and latest fishing techniques.

However a State publication is indispensable for local information about waters

within easy striking distance of your home. State publications typically give you

the skinny on changes in local regulations, current ramp levels, lake drawdown dates,

catch-rates on state-monitored lakes and local tournament results.

When I lived in New Jersey I subscribed to "New Jersey Outdoors",

in Georgia it was "Georgia Sportsman" and now living in Florida

I receive "Florida Game & Fish".

Among the National magazines, "In-Fisherman" is the clear winner,

a highly scientific, multi-species magazine that goes well beyond largemouth bass.

Even before Al Lindner founded In-Fisherman, he was already my favorite fishing writer.

Years before launching In-Fisherman, Al was a featured writer for Fishing Facts magazine.

The question about favorite fishing magazine comes up periodically.

During my first response several years ago, I had very little company

when mentioning In-Fisherman. Though I'm happy to see that's all changed,

there's a still a poor showing for Fishing Facts magazine. Although Fishing Facts

is not the comprehensive encyclopedia it was when Spence Petros was editor-in-chief,

I'm sure it still ranks among the top 5% of national periodicals.

I like to read about anything when it comes to fishin, but I'll say my favorite is Bassin.

Another vote for Bassin' here. Bassmaster has gone way down hill since I first joined. My subscription expires in Feb. and I don't plan to renew.

I would have to give my vote to Bass West for just bass content.  They are a little lacking when it comes to getting them to you in a timely manner but I can deal with that b/c of the great information!

I'm not real happy with any of the fishing magazines out there now.  I take a current In-Fisherman magazine and compare it to the mid-90's versions when the Lindners were in charge and the older ones are much more informative.

I stopped taking Fishing Facts because after a few years, it became boring in that the same information was just being recycled.

Bassin magazine seems really superficial most of the time.  It is like they could tell you more, be in depth, if they felt like it but they don't.

In Bassmaster, I get the feeling that they are more concerned with the look of their mag as opposed to the content.

The FLW magazine is just one big advertisement.  I think that the notion that a magazine should have content is contrary too their mission statement.

In the end, it don't matter.  I'm a fishing addict.  Spending money on fishing magazines is part of the addiction.  If I was addicted to cocaine, all I'd have to show for it at the end of the day would be a runny nose.  As it is, I have crates of old fishing mags that rotate in and out of the restroom reading station.

I agree on the In-Fisherman even though there are sever articals that I don't read for lack of interest.

I pertty much agree with Raul except I thought it had been  beat with an ugly stick. No reference to the rods intended.

I had let my subscrition expire several years ago but granddaughter's class is in some sort of a magazine thing and they won't just take a donation so I'm hook into it for a few years.

For the bucketmouths I like Bassin'. I fish a lot of smallies tho so sometimes the down south tactics aren't applicable to me. I like anything with a good bass article!

FLW is second.

Bassmaster is third.

For pure bass fishing, only.

Others include other species of fish that I am not interested in reading about.
