Big-O Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Several months back RageTail had the wonderful opportunity to support a "Take a Wounded Soldier Fishing" effort in Washington DC. Ron DeFreitas, his son Jason and Family represented this effort for us by handing out Bags of fishing baits to all involved as well as taking some of our Wounded Heroes fishing during the 2 day event. It was a great honor for us to be involved with such a worthy and necessary cause and my hat's off to all who serve our Country with such bravery. Ron has just made me aware that the Wounded Warriors Project is trying to get folks to send Christmas Cards to the wounded soldiers. I have placed the address below for those that would like to participate in helping with this effort. Believe it or not, each card that is sent makes huge impact to those who receive them. Holiday Mail For Heroes P.O. Box 5456 Capital Heights, MD 20791-5456 Please spread the word and feel free to share the address listed. I would also like to wish all of our Bass Resource Family members a Happy and Safe Holiday Season. Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 4, 2009 Super User Posted December 4, 2009 Salute! Thank you Big O. C'mon guys... Let's all jump on board and help with the cause! Just one box of cards with a short message is all we need from everyone. Your participation is GREATLY appreciated by our servicemen and women. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Quote
rondef Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Thank You to all for helping with this effort, this will make a huge impact in their lives. I can tell you that based on first hand experience. Here is a picture of just one of the many soldiers my family had the honor of spending time with at the Take A Wounded Soldier Fishing tournament. Once again, thanks Big O for letting us represent Rage Tail at this event. Quote
b.Lee Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I;m in how does this work? Do we just send the cards to the address? And are we writing messages on them? I am assuming each card would a general message for each person. Quote
b.Lee Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Sounds good to me. On my list of things to buy today. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 4, 2009 Super User Posted December 4, 2009 Clarification, please: Do we write a short personal message, sign cards, rebox and send them to the address or are you asking for each card to be sent separately? -Kent Quote
rondef Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Please write a short personal message on each and then send them to the address in the first post. If you are sending multiple cards it may be cheaper to send them via bulk mail rather than putting stamps on each of the cards. I have placed 25 cards into individual envelopes and then I placed all of them into a large envelope because it is cheaper to send them that way. I hope this explanation helps. Quote
b.Lee Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I get it, so you guys will disburse them out, we just send the cards. Roger that. Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 Good to see this going on here. A lot of my Army buddies are getting deployed and stop-lossed and sent back to the sand. Myself, I just joined a Reserve unit in Ohio and as soon as I can get trained up on the new job, my name will be on a the list to go do my part. Thank you to all on here for supporting our troops at home and overseas. Quote
Big-O Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 We salute you BUCKEYEone and sending the cards like Ron mentioned, in bulk is the way to go. I am filling them out then sending them all placed back in the same box for easy handling and better shipping rates....... www.ragetail.com Quote
rondef Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 All, Xerox has set up a site to create and send post cards to the troops over in the Middle East. They are providing this service for free and they are covering the postage. You go to www.letssaythanks.com and then pick out the post card, enter your name and hometown then pick a thank you for the back of the post card. This is free to do so lets see how many we can send out to the troops on the front lines. You can also read the thank yous from the troops on this site. Thanks, Ron DeFreitas Quote
senko_77 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks for the info Rondef. Me and the guys I room with will get on it tonight and get a few out. Good luck at the event and thanks for helping out our wounded servicemen!! Quote
b.Lee Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Ok I just picked up a box of cards, should I put anything on the envelope? Or will you guys take care of that? Quote
rondef Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 No need to put anything on the envelopes if you are mailing them in bulk like I did. I placed all of my cards into one large envelope and mailed them. I did write a short message thanking them on inside of each of the individual cards though. Once again, thank you to all that are helping with this effort. Quote
rondef Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Only a few days left for those that would like to help. These soldiers will be extremely happy to see how much we support them. Once again THANK YOU to all that participate in the Holiday Mail For Heroes. Ron DeFreitas Quote
b.Lee Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Sent my cards today, should arrive in a few days. Quote
jeremyt Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 Glad I saw this before it was too late, I will be sending some out tomorrow. Another thing to add is that if any of you guys and gals live near a military instillation you can call to see if they have a wounded warrior barracks ( or something to that nature ) and see if they have any members that want to go out fishing. I am a Marine near Lejeune and I used to take those guys out in pairs every other weekend. They were just happy to be able to go out and get away for a while Once again thanks for all you do. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 17, 2009 Super User Posted December 17, 2009 Mine have been sent and should arrive in a day or two. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Quote
