blackriver Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Hello, Just found the site and it seems to be a great forum!!! I am from Wisconsin and do alot of musky and bass fishing in the summer months. There has only been snow on the ground for a week and already I have the itch to get back out. I have decided to do an out of state trip this winter, but am having a hard time finding a place to go. I would really love to find a place with great bass fishing. They don't have to be monsters as I am looking for quantities of fish because my wife would be joining me. Does anyone on here know of a resort or something in Florida or another southern state? Maybe somewhere you have stayed and had a good experience??? Thank in advance?? Quote

bass or bass ? Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I recommend south Florida for peacock and largemouth bass. The peacocks are plentiful, hard fighters, and beautiful to boot!!! Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 12, 2009 Super User Posted December 12, 2009 Choke Canyon. X2 !!!! Quote
Buckeye1955 Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Welaka Lodge and Resort on the St. Johns River. Straight across from the Ocklawaha river that runs up to Rodman reservoir. Just down river from Lake George. Terrific cabins and dock setup with power lifts. Golf course a few miles down the road. Got my personal best up Bear creek which runs parallel to the Ocklawaha for quite a ways. There is a cross connect between the two a couple miles up. You can run up the river and drift back down the creek. Just don't let the gators get you! Quote

Thats a great idea, i fish that area alot, in rodman you can catch tons of fish. in the river its a little tougher, but there are great guides who can put you on fish. Quote
frogflogger Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 If you're looking for numbers - lots of bass and peacocks it's hard to beat the everglades - saw a boat do a 110 peacocks and over 30 largemouth in a half day at holiday park last week nothing big Quote
Big Bass Chaser Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 I wouldn't suggest northern (SF Bay Delta area) California in the winter, too many sudden changes in weather. For instance, last week on Sunday we had a sudden onset of severely cold weather and rain. To illustrate the change, it went from 65 mid-day Saturday to 35 in some places by Monday mid-day. As you can imagine the bite was turned OFF. The Sacramento delta didn't seem to suffer as bad, but definitely felt the effects. If I had my choice, I'd go to one of the states along the gulf for largemouth or spots. Or maybe to Mexico! Quote
Shane Procell Posted December 15, 2009 Posted December 15, 2009 In the winter....South Florida Everglades for Bass and Peacocks is where its happening, unless you want to get out of the country. I would stay in Miami or Everglades City and crush some Big Cypress bass! Quote
