topwatergirl Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Hello! My boyfriend is on here everyday to check new posts so I hope he doesn't read this (although he probably will), but I was wondering if a "make your own spinnerbait" kit might be a good present for him? He fishes for largemouth bass and uses spinnerbaits, but I don't know if it would be cool for him to make his own or if he would rather get already made lures, so I was just wondering what yall thought about it? He is really hard to shop for so any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Quote

Super User fishfordollars Posted December 8, 2009 Super User Posted December 8, 2009 Original thought. Never even considered something like that. Would probably make a good gift. Welcome to the site. Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted December 8, 2009 Super User Posted December 8, 2009 Gift card... Otherwise, this is something he might not have: 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade, solid white skirt, silver blade. Buy two, all fishermen "need" two of everything! 8-) Quote

KevO Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I think that would make a great gift. It would give him something to do during the winter months when he may not be able to fish as much. A gift card to Tackle warehouse is good too but if I were him I would rather have the spinnerbait kit. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted December 8, 2009 Super User Posted December 8, 2009 Welcome. Does he like to make his own baits ? A nice gift card would work. Quote

topwatergirl Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 Welcome. Does he like to make his own baits ? A nice gift card would work. I don't think he has made his own baits before but I know he admires people who do.... but I don't know if it would be something he would enjoy or not and that's why I wasn't sure if it was a good idea..... but thank you to everyone for your input I really appreciate it!! A gift card to Tackle warehouse is good too but if I were him I would rather have the spinnerbait kit. I tend to agree. Giving him a kit would give him something to do during these looooooong winter months . A gift card is good but some people construe a gift card as "not putting much thought into the gift." It just depends, I guess, on where your b-friend stands and how picky he is. Quote
bassmedic46 Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 I think a kit would be a great idea, It will give him something to do on those cold days. Quote

That's only the rules for guys to not get a girl a gift card. ;D Quote
RobE Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I would say that if he enjoys building or tinkering with things, that would be a great gift idea. I would enjoy one! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 9, 2009 Super User Posted December 9, 2009 I would say that if he enjoys building or tinkering with things, that would be a great gift idea. I would enjoy one! Otherwise, if he is like me, a kit would suck. More importantly, the components probably don't compare to name brand spinnerbaits. As suggested earlier, the 3/4 oz Ledgebuster is the BOMB! Quote
RazorBassin Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 I think either would be great. Me, personally, I would rather have the gift card. But, maybe down the road after I have all the tackle I want(HA!) , I would be interested in the kit. Quote

RW makes a pretty good point. If you think your boyfriend would enjoy building spinnerbaits, why not buy him a gift certificate to someplace like Jann's Netcraft and left him choose his own components? http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/fisherman-gifts/GIFT.aspx Quote
