b.Lee Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I just have to say: I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I haven't been a member long, but I feel at home here. I posted my first serious question and I got serious answers. I mean down to model numbers and recommended combination's. Most forums I join, there is usually a lot of hating and telling people to do your own work. Although this is my first fishing forum, I really feel at home here. Now I am on the West Coast, but one of these years I am going to make it to Annual Trips you guys have. Just wanted to thank Glenn and the other Admins for maintaining and putting together a very quality source of information and community. And to all the quality members we have here. Just wanted to tip my hat off to everyone who deserves it. And that means you! Best Regards, BLee I hope this is an acceptable post, I am sure many others feel the same way. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted November 5, 2009 Super User Posted November 5, 2009 Welcome and well said!! I would be willing to bet a floating Rapala minnow that many here including me, share your sentiments. 8-) Quote
n8sbassin Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I totally agree BLee! I've only been a member for a couple weeks, but this is one of the best forums I've been on! Quote
D4u2s0t Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I have been on many forums over the years. Guitar forums, car forums, etc. This is my first fishing forum. In general, from being with all types of people from all walks of life, anglers seem to be a different breed of people. Having that common interest almost makes an instant bond between people. You still have the losers in the group, like in any, but overall, it's a much more welcoming crowd. Quote

I couldn't agree more, I am a car nut and usually on car forums, but when we have meets and what not, it is very segregated, but I guess fishing guys are different it seems. I am sure it will happen in any situation, but by the shear way this forum is run I see some quality guys. Quote
D4u2s0t Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 exactly. If this site was like car guys, the shimano users would talk smack about the abu members, loomis guys would hate the st criox guys, soft plastic users would hate hard plastic users, etc. lol. And all people would say is "You suck, I catch more fish than you. Loser" lol. Glad it's not like that here. Car meets are broken up by the make and model of their car, and most people don't like other people just because of what car they drive. It's not like here, where FISHING is the common interest, and the reason why people become friends. Quote
chromedog Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I agree 150%. The community around here is just that, a community. There are always the bad egg, but they are few and far between around here. It is nice to go and talk about the things you want to talk about. Not having to waste more than half your time defending yourself from meaningless attacks and idiots with nothing better to do than stir the pot. Thanks to all here. I have learned more from this site and enjoyed the discussions more than any message board or forum of any kind! Quote

I used to live in Jersey as a kid growing up, I would spend summers up at Lake George, I never fished it though as a kid and always wondered. Quote
chromedog Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Nope, never. I grew up fishing Oneida lake, Lake Ontario, St. Lawrence seaway, Skaneateles lake and some Finger lakes fishing. Pretty much fish these now as an adult with several smaller waterways that I have found over the years. Quote

All true (except, some people really choose st croix over g loomis? ) ....Depends on the setup of the forum, if this was "Fishing Resource" and we had a bunch of Walley, trout and musky fisherman we might see more issues here ;D 5 points to anyone that can find the easter egg in this post! Oh the Pizza, yes the pizza. Quote
D4u2s0t Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 but we do have all types of fisherman here! Just because people like bass fishing doesn't mean they don't like to go out for other species as well. Quote

Just because we are bass fishermen doesn't make us more well-behaved than any other fishermen, or any other group of people for that matter. The rules that have been set by Glenn are why this is a good forum. Those who don't want to abide by those rules don't participate, which results in far fewer knotheads on this forum. Quote
chromedog Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 HAhahha, Dunder Mifflin. Yup, I grew up in upstate NY, Syracuse. Quote

Super User Catt Posted November 5, 2009 Super User Posted November 5, 2009 Glenn & the moderators do have to spank us on occasion : Quote
Uncle Leo Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 I am crying uncontrollabilly. This just warms my heart. Can I have my spanking now? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 5, 2009 Super User Posted November 5, 2009 It truly is a love fest here compared to some. You are only as good as your leadership and we have one of the best. Quote
yamisoez Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Blee has been in my head! His statements echo my thoughts and feelings exactly. This is my favorite forum also and I so want to thank all of you responsible for teaching me so much. Quote
b.Lee Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 I'm glad everyone shows my enthusiasm. So admins aren't allowed to chime in? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 6, 2009 Super User Posted November 6, 2009 Speaking for all the Administrators, Thanks! That's a "Thank You" to the entire membership for making this a community. We think of it as "family". Try to remember when things get a little rough, we're about fishing and BassResource.com is suppose to be fun! -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior 8-) Quote
