Cavitron buzzbaits. Ghost and black are my favorite colors and majority of the time I use a trailer hook because I lost 2 fish when I first started fishing these so I'm not taking any chances anymore.

booyah counterstrike in black/red or chart/white, no trailers but I do use a trailer hook (1/0 Gamakatsu)

I use Lunker Lure buzzbaits.  The hooks on those things are the sharpest I have ever seen on anything.  By the way the color I go to most of the time is black. 8-)

I picked up a black Booyah buzz bait, would you say my best bet would be to get trailer hooks instead of a soft bait? Since I just started to use buzzbaits, in what situations would you use these?

Down here Buzzbaits are a ticket to catching some amazing stringers.

Tho there are alot of brands of buzzbaits, I am a fan of Lunker Lure. Black, White, and Chartreuse are my favorite colors....shot I can't even say that I know that they make other colors  :;)

I personally don't use trailers but I know a number of people that do. The deciding factor is the speed that you want the lure to be moving. Fast fishermen like me go without but guys that like the slower side of things will find a trailer right up their alley. They really allow you to slow the lure down to insanely slow speeds.

The only buzzbait I throw is a 1/2oz. Lunker Lure in black.  This buzzbait has a 5/0 hook that extends back quite a ways so there is no need for a trailer hook.  I do like to thread on a black grub to give it more bulk and slow the retrieve down.

Cavitron buzzbaits are the best. I like the 1/4 ounce model with a black skirt and a trailer hook. I throw them on 12 - 14 pound test mono with heavier spinning gear. I prefer spinning reels over casting reels for buzzbaits because sometimes with casting reels you have to peel off loose line to prevent backlashes, so your buzzbait is already sinking. With spinning reels, you can engage and retrieve as soon as it hits the water.

As far as using buzzbaits, I use them when the water is warmer and the bass fairly aggressive. They are at their best when trying to cover water in shallow, cover filled areas, or whenever you need to draw fish out of cover to hit on top. Due the fact that they provoke reaction strikes, I use buzzers during the day more than I do other topwaters, though buzzbaits are still almost always best during mornings, evenings, or cloudy days.

BTW, buzzbaits are a LETHAL lure for pike.

Cavitrons.

Black in early AM or on cloudy days.

White during the day.

Always add a trailer hook.

Fish early AM right before sun comes up and then after.

Fish late PM as sun sets.

Fish during the day in shallow water.

Drag over wood and grass.

Bring a pliers to remove hooks.

Be VERY CAREFUL as I have already had trailer hooks slammed into my  thumb on two occassions.

Have fun.

And also try a pink or white trick worm in the grass and pads.  Fun to fish and the bass will clobber them if the bass are in the area.  ;)

Again not a single mention of the blade  ;)

With buzz baits the blade shape, material, size, color, or if it has a clacker is more important that skirt color.

A bass will hear and see the commotion created by the blade long before it sees the skirt; this commotion is what will generate a reaction strike.

I keep a worm rod handy so when the bass misses the buzz bait I'll drop that rod immediately and throw the worm to the exact spot of the strike often generating a strike.

yeah the blades! do you guys use the 2.3. or 4 bladed buzz baits? i have a little of all. seems like the 2 is better for calm days and ponds and the 3 and 4 blades more for windier situations on lakes. what do you guys think?

The Cavitron buzzbaits create a unique "chirping" sound.

I fish both 1/4oz silver blade, white & silver skirt and the

3/8 oz black on black. However, I don't think it makes a

difference!

I fish a trailer on the 1/4 oz Cavitron just for the additional

weight, the 3/8 oz naked. Again, I don't think it makes a

difference. I attribute the success of these lures to high quality

components and the unique chirp.

When the buzzbait gets beat up, just bend it back to something

close to the original configuration. "Old" lures work as well or better

than new!

Regarding the blade: The Cavitron produces a bubble trail unlike

any other I have fished. The blade configuration has a lot to do with

both sound and wake which is something Bobby has spent years

developing.

Try one, you will not be disappointed.

All types and makes of buzzbaits will catch fish under certain conditions. Before owning Cavitron-I caught fish on high dollar buzzbaits to 99cent buzzbaits. As for fishing them -they are the most exciting way to catch bass. I remember on numerous occasions getting the crap scared out of me on some vicious  strikes that happened within 5 or 6 feet from me. I have gotten 6 lb bass that smacked an 8 in bass that hit the buzzbait first. Its a tournament godsend for early morning tactics for covering water. I have gotten limits within the first hour of a tournament on a buzzbait. There are times that I  never put it down during a tournament if they are hitting them. I am not here to sell some better mouse trap-Ok I am -but rather to show you options to your current buzzbait. First of all the worst thing we can do as fishermen is close our minds.Take a look at this video www.cavitronlures.com and it will explain everything about the cavitron. Please purchase them from our board sponsors- www.*** ect thank you Bobby@Megastrike

Cavitrons are my favorite by far, but Accent Hi - Riders B2's are really good, as are strike king titanium or bleeding elites, terminators, lunker lures, and booyahs.

Vision Lures Honeybuzz! It's a squeaker, not a clacker. The hinged hook and double weights makes them so easy to throw. They always stay upright too.
