b.Lee Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Sorry I tried searching for an answer and nothing really comes up, But how do you guys get one? Or is it even possible? Is it something you get invited into? Sorry to the mods if this should go in Club or tournament section. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 Why anyone would want a membership to B.A.S.S. is beyond me; let alone a lifetime membership. : Quote
b.Lee Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Well, I have my reason and incentives, even if it is to FLW Outdoors I don't care! Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 I'm a charter life B.A.S.S. member since 1968. I believe ESPN ended enrollment for the life membership program when they purchased B.A.S.S. WRB Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 You just have to contact their membership services. I think it still costs $500 for a lifetime membership. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 I'm sure they'll take your money just contact them. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Quote You just have to contact their membership services. I think it still costs $500 for a lifetime membership. you would think the price could come down a little, I mean,...they no longer have the cost of dealing with that pesty Juniors division. I'd like to think the kids didn't get the shaft for nothing but with the BASS track record being what it is, I should know better than to expect anything. TBf on the other hand has stepped up for the kids bigtime. (just for the record, I'm affiliated with neither of the 2) Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 Quote Why anyone would want a membership to B.A.S.S. is beyond me; let alone a lifetime membership. : x2, B.A.S.S. is now the evil empire of bass fishing. Just check out some of the stunts they have pulled the past couple years. Quote
b.Lee Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Im not following? Am I missing something here? Should I join FLW? Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 Simple a lot of the guys here don't like the way B.A.S.S. has evolved over the years. Quote
Wesley Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Do not let other peoples prejudice affect what you want to do. BASS is still a respectable organization that has done wonders for the fishing industry. Has BASS made mistakes? yes. Is FLW the messiah of fishing? no. I am a member of both organizations and it hasnt hurt me any as far as I can tell. I would love to have a BASS lifetime member ship and will be buying one sometime. If you have never attended a Bassmaster Classic I would reccomend that you go to one it is an awesome experience. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 B.A.S.S. changed when purchased by ESPN, however B.A.S.S. is still the top bass fishing tournament organization in the country and isn't likely to go away anytime soon. FLW is very rocky at this time, loosing most of it's hallmark sponsors and may have crumbled this year without Cabela's stepping up to save the 2010 schedules. I wouldn't advise a life membership in B.A.S.S. or FLW, save your money. My life membership was a gift and it's been good to get free magazines for over 40 years, there hasn't been any other advantages for life members. WRB Quote
b.Lee Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Well I appreciate the advice. But my perk is getting a lifetime fishing license in my state. Requirement, being an affiliate as a lifetime member in some sort organization which promotes wildlife conservation, which most organization do. I get a nice discount for doing this, helps to know people Quote

b.Lee Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Sorry WRB, I am not sure how far this invitation extends. My best friend works for the state, and he pulled some strings for me. I will definitely ask though. This was their requirement. I also have to volunteer my time every 6 months for the rest of my life :-? I work for my County. So you may have to be a government employee. Not sure again, but I will ask! I think I will join FLW Outdoors, that way I can be a co-angler in some of the West Coast Tournaments. Quote

Hope the FLW Stren series or western series is still alive, FLW reported they were supporting the eastern series last week. BASS has never been much of a west coast organization due to lack of support from everyone involved. WRB Quote

Make up your own mind- I know you said a lifetime fishing license was one of your deciding factors. Whatever works for you. I like both BASS and FLW. But, I like them both for very different reasons. Both are useful. Quote
b.Lee Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Well I know, I mean overall they still have the "same" goal. And I know a lot of people do not like when companies sell out to the big man, in this case ESPN. But the sport has grown a lot. But at the same time taken a lot of attention away from FLW. Quote
