Five-Alive Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Here is a link to the wild life blog from the Roanoke Times in Roanoke Virginia showing a picture of a guy with 2 treble hooks buried in his scalp, they say this was the result of 3 people fishing in a 15 foot boat - ouch!! http://blogs.roanoke.com/rtblogs/wildlife/2009/06/25/heres-a-shot-of-ralph-bartons-big-catch/ Quote
Elite Image Fishing Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 If you guys want to see I will post, until then I will just describe it. One saturday morning I was respooling reels and I was taking a red eye shad off one of my setups. I was sitting on the floor and somehow when I cut the line on the redeye it went straight into my left pinky-finger. My immediate reflex, to jerk away, got my right pinky-finger stuck so, I was in a pickle. I had no way to do the hook tie technique since my hands were bound together. I called my mom into the kitchen where I had attempted to pour some medication onto the entrance points. She then poured the medicine which made it hurt even worse.... I fell to my knees and wound up getting the other trebles stuck in the rug in front of the kitchen sink :-X. After my mom had to pretty much fall out of the wheelchair she was in (due to ankle injury) she cut the lures free, then called my brother-in-law to drive me to the E.R. (Yeah he laughed the whole way). So once I get there I stuck my hands in through the little window and said.... " I need you to fix this." After the woman picked her jaw up off the floor I went back and had the hooks removed. I have plenty of pics... if you want to see I'll post later tonight. I just didn't want to post up a bunch of nasty pics. Quote
Dr Pigg Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 My wife just told me to get off the D--- computer--I've disturbed her TV watching -Laughing my rim off at this thread. If ya'll don't make as pro fishermen--comedy is your calling--Doc Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted October 1, 2009 Super User Posted October 1, 2009 Only one way to go when you hook yourself. 1. Use the method described above. 2. Change your underwear. 3. Continue fishing Quote
BobP Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 If it's me, jerk it out and keep fishing. If the other guy in the boat wants more refined treatment, drop him off at the dock....and keep fishing. Quote
BassThumb Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Yeah, it happens. I've done it 3 times. All 3x on a hookset that sent a lure flying back at me. Hand, forearm, and ear. After you hook yourself, the longer you wait the more tender it gets. Rip it out ASAP and put some isopropyl alc on it. I used a similar method, put instead of a string I used my needlenose. Quote
bassmedic46 Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Knock on wood no major hooking, Does look extremely painful. :'( Quote
Danny1991 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Hooked my self twice. Once in the forearm with a crankbait, was able to push it on through and cut the barb then back it out (actually didn't hurt too bad) Then once had jerkbait go straight down to the bone on my little finger, After my dad tried to pull it out (not a good idea!) and failed I had to go to the ER. The doc. shot my finger up with something that made it swell to double normal size (Dad almost passed out watching this lol) He held my hand on the table and pulled hard as he could with pliers, took a couple tries but it finally came out. Worst part about that one was it took close to 6hrs at the ER! Quote
