raising bass?

has anyone ever raised largemouth or smallmouth in an aquarium.  I have a 30 gallon tank, would I be able to keep a LMB or SMB?

I wouldnt know much about it but i do know that they are really messy fish to keep in aquariums. I also know that there have been some previous posts about this topic awhile back so try browsing through past discussions.

I wanted to do the same thing previously. I did a lot of research and from what I gathered it is hard to impossible, especially in a 30 gallon tank. Look into if it is permitted by your local law before you put too much time inti it. Good luck.

This topic has been posted a couple hundred times. It never goes well. I would look to other sources for information about keeping bass.

LMB in hobby of aquariasts are considered monster fish due to the girth, lenght and overall size of the fish.  Plus making sure that the fish have adequate filtration, you would need an amazing system to be able to handle the bioload.  If you want to hear more, check out monsterfishkeepers * and there is a plethora of information on there, plus you can see just how large of an aquarium  you will need to be able to house such large fish.  And for the 30 gal you are speaking of, that could only be used as your sump for filtration for these monsters, not as their home

30 gal tank is awfully small for a bass of any size.

You'd have a hard time even keeping a sunny in a tank that size for any length of time.

Just buy some gold fish...leave the bass in the wild.

I caught a bass that I thought was going to die so I threw it in the livewell and took it home.  When I got home, the thing came back to life so I threw it in my mother's pond.  Well, the darn thing ate most of her goldfish, crawdads and made all kinds of splashing noise all the time.  Needless to say she ended up draining the pond and throwing the bass out.
