I rarely get anytime to fish. Balancing high school and other things, I have a very short time to fish. During the summer I got at most 1 day a week to fish. Because I am a first generation bass fisherman in my family, nobody else seems to have enjoyed it. They think its boring and a waste of time. They always get skunked and when I try to help them they never listen.

Because everyone on this site is great at catching fish, how often and how long do you guys go out to fish?

For me rarely one day a week and an average of 2 hours per outing :'( :'( :'(

I try to fish everyday (at least 2 hours).

Dont let your family discourage you. Im in the same boat, no one in my family likes it either and they think its a waste of time.  Its a great hobby and sounds like you really look forward to it and enjoy it.

Stay focused on school work and fish often when you get free time.

I have been on the water approx 130 hours since mid June.  I do not get to go every weekend but I'm glad I get to go as much as I do.  I am fortunate my situation is what it is and I know how lucky I am to have it.

You will find more time in the future to pursue your love of fishing.  It DOES get better.  Hang in there!! :)

yeah i will. i wanted to start a bass fishing team in my high school. Illinois was the first to have a state competition. Problem is, I have no idea how to set it up. Gotta find anglers and somehow fund boats and the extracurricular activities. A car will be a godsend.

On average, I fish 2 weekends a month....AT MOST.  Obviously not as much as I'd like to, but obligations beckon.

That said, there was a time in my life where I fished EVERY weekend, without fail, for a few years.  Looking back on that time, it helped me tremendously with my fishing, but hurt me tremendously as well.  It took too much time away from my friends, family, and other "stuff".  There IS such a thing as "too much of a good thing is too much".

That said, I, too, faced the same issues as you. Don't let them bring you down.  Just because they "don't get it", doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue what you enjoy most.

Case in point - Had I listened to "them", this site wouldn't have come into existence.

I have to hit the water atleast 20hr a week. I will either go by myself or take my 9yr old son with me. He is in pee wee league football now, so if I can't make it out during the week then Sat & Sun are a must. I went through the same situation with my family and fishing and the best advice I could give to you is Keep On Fishing, cause there are alot worse things you can find yourself in with free time trust me. ;)

Once or twice a week...6-7 times a month.Depending on my wife.

Last two months however i was fishing 3 times a week.

Cold weather is coming for us up here(ice fishing anybody?)...so we don't fish year round like the south can.Plus from December to April(3rd Saturday) bass fishing is closed.I only get 4 month of serious fishing in.It goes by way too quick! :(

Spring through fall, I average probely 10 hours per week.  Lately, thanks to the ENDLESS patience of my loving woman, its been closer to 18 to 20 hours per week.  During hardwater season I try to get out twice a month or so, but it is not as important to me then.  Remember to live up to your commitments to family, but take time for yourself when you can. God willing, you have a long life of bass fishing ahead of you.

That's pretty much my schedule as well. Even if she's got some crap planned for me on a Sunday, I'll bust out early and be home before breakfast.

I fish on average 2 days a week from april to november (if weather alowes). Not all of it is bass fishing ,though. There are weeks when i go out almost every day, but when I'm bussy i might go without fishing for a week or two.

I'll do a couple days of steelheading from  february to april.

Very little lately. normally I tried to fish three weekends a month and at least one day during the week. That being said I have not been on the water in the last three weeks. Motor rebuild has been the culprit. Will have it back together shortly so lot of time to fish coming up.

This summer I fished 4 days a week and fished around 10 tournaments. I was too far away from my club this year so the tourney numbers were down.

Not nearly as much as i would like. Me and my bro are the only ones in my family who fish. We get crap from the rest for spending so much on it as well. I only get to go one day a weekend if i am lucky!!! When work picks up i don't even get that!!!           >:(

Not nearly as much as I would like to! Usually 2 or 3 times a week, lately I've been lucky to get out once a week though.

You can bet your last dollar I'll be fishing every monday and every friday before work for two hours. Not enough, but it'll do for now. My lady is getting into now, so I TAKE her and the girls another two times maybe. For an hour each.

I have my entire life to fish.I don't need to get it in all at once

Four to five times a week, anywhere from 2 hours to 8.  I've been fishing three times this weekend already and I still have another day to go!  I am thinking about Pickwick for tomorrow.

Too much.

Burned out.

Will do some pond fishing and then three more tournaments this year and then taking a break.

Unless I decide to fish some of the Hot Side of Lake Anna tournaments in December January or February, which are fun.

i fish every sunday till couple of weeks ima huge nfl fan so got football. im ight slip in during the week depending on work if its raining i cant work so i might hit a local pond. i work to far and to tired to go out after work.  i dont try to overdo it either have a wife and a 2 year old that i love spending time with. i will probably go more often when son gets older but that will be for both our enjoyment over him fishing.

my fam never been a problem. my wife enjoys fishing when she goes but she doesnt like staying long and she doesnt mind have the time if i go she will just go to one of her friends and visit with them. my brother fell in love with fishing a few years back after he had his son. got into for an activity for him to do with his son cause he never cared for it but now the man is crazy so we go together alot.

i went yesterday for maybe 7 hours and going this morning when sun pops out. the pond im going today is a base pond so their time limit from sunrise to sunset. im trying to give this pond shot agin now the weather has drop ten to fifteen degrees for all last week. the water temp has came down it was in the high 80s to 90s at times a couple of weeks ago.
