my main goal this year was to learn how to jig fish.  I have not accomplished this yet.  I have not caught a single fish on a jig.  I am working on it though, I just have to throw it more often.  I have other baits that work very well and so I havent dedicated the time to the jig yet.

I had a lot of goals for this season and did not complete many...

Catch a new PB- Yes- 6lbs 8oz

Learn dropshot- Needs work- caught a few tourney fish using it

Learn spoons- didn't spend any time trying it

Learn Deep cranks- Needs work- caught a few

Limit more- Needs a lot of work

I have fished my whole life, but this is only the second year of taking fishing a little more serious. Overall this year was a great time. I spent a lot of time on my local body and learned another new section. I have fished some bodies of water this year that I used to dream about fishing. I didn't expect to cash checks in every tourney or qualify in every regional, because I am just not there yet. I made some steps improving and I am starting to get a feel for different habitats/situations. My ULTIMATE long term goal is to be able to consistently catch a limit in a variety of weather conditions and a variety of habitats.

I had my baitcaster setup since last season but hardly used it, so this season I kept practicing and got pretty good!!!

Well the last couple years I dedicated to swimbaits and trying to incorporate them into the arsenal. Well it put a damper on my productivity and sometimes I think I tried to push the bite to hard. So this year I told myself to just go out there with an open mind and try to adjust to the situations that are presented to me. Well I have to say that I have been fishing alot better. So some of my technique goals were fishing the dropshot more and also learning to punch the mats. Well I have had some of my best days with these techniques. I think now my goal will be to keep a better fishing journal. I think anyone that is serious about fishing should always have goals and want to learn new techniques. If you keep fishing the same way ur gonna keep having the results and catching the same fish. Try not to fish yesterdays bite.

I had 3 goals for this year.......

1. Get my 4 year old out more. Done.

2. Learn the dropshot. Spent alot of time fooling with it. Little to limited success

3. Qualify for the fishoff. 4 points back 1 tourney left to go. Admittedly, I am at my best when the water warms July-Sept and the fish go deep into the brushpiles. I love to bounce that worm through the brush! I had a good spring and thought this was going to be easy. Water never really warmed and the fish never really went deep. I wasted alot of time and fell on my face a couple times for fish that never showed up this year.

Goals for next year.....

1.  Get the 5 year old out even more

2.  Better concentration!!!

3.  Greater percentage of those hooked actually into the boat!!! This has hurt quite a bit this year too.
