aarogb Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Personally I think light green and yellow would sound more American. Quote

Super User cart7t Posted August 24, 2009 Super User Posted August 24, 2009 from merriam-webster a variable color averaging a brilliant yellow green Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted August 24, 2009 Super User Posted August 24, 2009 Chartreuse is a much brighter color than plain yellow. It's a combination of yellow & green with infusion of a brightening kicker of some kind. It definitely stands out much better than yellow, and has been a proven fish attractor for many years. Quote

Super User Catt Posted August 25, 2009 Super User Posted August 25, 2009 From my observation chartreuse colored plastics are translucent (permitting the passage of light) while yellow does not. Quote

Super User Paul Roberts Posted August 25, 2009 Super User Posted August 25, 2009 Chartreuse is a bright greenish yellow -usually (or always?) fluorescent. For "yellow" think of a schoolbus. For Chartreuse think...those vests road workers wear, or... flagging tape, ... Quote
Hot Rod Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 It is French. Its derived from the old french saying "Chez truce!" As in "hey we give up! lets make a truce or you can just take us over, or whatever you want, its fine with us." So then when this new color came about it was more "yellow" than anyone had ever seen before. Some called it flourescent yellow/green. However it was some cowboy who slured "why that's so yella it reminds me a them there french and there lilly livered "cher truce"". And the name stuck Ask a "dumb" question = get a dumb answer Quote
Super User WRB Posted August 25, 2009 Super User Posted August 25, 2009 Chartreuse is a common highlight color in baitfish; shad, sunfishes and crappie. Chartreuse is a blend between lime green and canary yellow. Yellow runs from light yellow to orange yellow. Mixing silver/white with blues and greens plus chartreuse is a good baitfish combination. Mixing red and black with yellow is also common, but natures warning; when red touches yellow look out fellow. Bumble Bee patterns in crankbaits have always been good color combination. WRB Quote

Mottfia Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 I have chartruese soft plastics that are not translucent Catt. Every lure company seems to have a different interpretation of the color. It seems that some are more translucent or solid than others while some are more yellow or green then others. Cart7t' s answer hit the nail on the head with the word variable Mottfia Quote
