Tetra Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 How do you guys store this stuff? It comes in the zip lock that doesnt keep it from stinking once it's opened. My tacklebox, car and boat stink like that stuff after a couple hot days. Do you guys keep reusing the zip lock package it comes in? or do you transfer it to something else. It comes packaged with that liquid i'm afraid if i transfer it they'll dry out. Quote

They say it easier to take care of than live bait---that's horse crap. As soon as you open it, it dries out or it stinks everything up. I don't care if it catches fish, that crap sucks!! Quote

berkleyfan81 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Gulp and Gulp alive are great bait ok i asked the company a last week ago how to store them because all my package were not usable anymore they email me back and told me that you can store them in a gald or rubbermaid container also I ever ask if you can mix colors and they told me you can so that what I am doing so u could follow this if you want too . I went on the berkley website and went to contact us they have a email address that you can email and they will answer any questions you have for them about the products also they reply within the week or the next day . berkleyfan81 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I mixed a blue fleck with all my baits like natural, white , and even green pumpkin and nothing happened to them so it would be ok if you mix them also you can create so awesome colors if that baits did mix I did it once and the bass loved the colors i made . catchnm Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I don't how they work for bass.....yet, but I've been slaying the crappie with the 3" and 4" minnow in both smelt and watermelon pearl. I store it two different ways. 1) In the original ziplock after adding one spray of garlic oil. I have a mesh pocket on my tackle bag which holds the ziplock tight and insures that it stays right side up, as long as the tackle bag does of course. 2) In a very small tupperware container. Add a little water to cover the bottom and a shot of garlic oil. Store the whole thing in a ziplock freezer bag. This stuff does STINK but it also does CATCH fish. I've recently caught Kentucky bass, largemouth, striper, and white bass....all while jigging for crappie inside the boat slips using the 3" and 4" Gulp Alive minnows. Quote
aarogb Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Gulp! baits are over rated there is plenty of other baits that will catch you fish without dealing with the juice and stink of the baits. Like berkleyfan said even if you do mix the baits together you will get cool looking colors. In fact, I caught my first fish of 2009 on a Senko mixed with gold and red. 8-) Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I guess I'm the only one that loves Gulp! SMALLIES JUST CRUSH THEM!!! I keep them in the original bags and keep them all in a ziplock bag (GALLON SIZE). I keep the Gulp! Alive buckets in ice cream pales just incase the buckets leak and from spilling all over the place. Alive. 3" minnows repel smallllmouth here, LOL, IDK about repel, lol ...I think we chase some of the the same smallies, and 3" gulp minnows and 3" yum dingers are about the only baits I'll dropshot...some guys from up your way cleaned house on a keuka tourny I fished last year on gulp minnows. I store all my gulps in the same quart container and have not had any problems with mixing them. Quote
Muad Dib Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 ive never really used the gulp to give it a full critique but ive had some experience with the gulp worms and i never really liked em cause of the smell. Brings me to my point about confidence. if there is one thing i have learned from others and my own experience is that if i feel there is one little thing wrong with the bait i wont give it the time to work it right. i like the tupperware idea which i could see workin. I did leave a pack of gulp worms in my trunk over the summer and they MELTED TOGETHER. hahah never had that happen with anything else. but i am dieing to try the smelt pattern and the goby pattern for smallies t Quote
