Branuss04 Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Wow.... :-/ Kind of a broad question your asking there!! This board is already full of 1000's of quality threads that range from tips on fishing plastics to good reels, our favorite shops. Why not spend a little time surfing the forum, and especially our articles that people have written, that address the very broad question of yours. Then if you have any questions, ask each specific one in the boards. BTW - Good luck on your journey to be a pro bass fisherman! Quote
Bassnajr Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Join a T.B.F. or B.A.S.S. affiliated Junior fishing program. Not only will you learn about fishing, if you are good at it, you can earn scholarship money for college, which is a MUST in these times!!! Good luck!!!! Quote
tutle Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Study your school work and make all A's through high school. This will get you into college where you can get a bachelor degree in biology. If you get all A's through this you can go to graduate school for a master's degree in marine biology .If you get all A's in this you can get a doctorate degree in ichthyology .Then you can be the best professional fisherman ESPN has ever seen. So it is simple really.Concentrate on school work for the next 10 years and then you can spend the rest of your life fishing. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted August 11, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted August 11, 2009 There's over 1,000 fishing articles here on the site, then there's the forums here. Enough reading to keep you busy for a few years!! But by all means, ask questions. We're here to help. But please, do not give out your contact information to anyone. Thanks! Glenn Quote
cabullwinkle Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 bigbass2204, listen carefully to what everyone has said on this issue. Do not take the years of learning and experiencing and advice these people are giving you for granted. Kick butt in school and fish when you are done with your homework. Get up super early if you have to. School will surely develop the analytical skills you will need on the water. It will make you be able to process information faster and more efficiently than the other guy. Good luck mate and keep that dream burning. There are a lot of guys in your shoes and if you want to be up there, you need to stand out above the crowd. Also, check out the college bass circuit. Pretty cool stuff. Quote

If you head that way -great! But, that much schooling will likely keep you off the bass waters. I went to school with fisheries in my sites -and was the period in my life I fished least. School is a no-brainer -you do it. It'll likely be the best route for your future, and give you the time and money to fish. That said, you're young, now's the time to dabble in dreams. Here's my advice: Fish -a lot. Quote

Here's my advice: Fish -a lot. The school part is not a no-brainer, kids today (including my 15 yr old son) seem to think that there is a short cut to everything. I guess that's from us spoiling them and making it look so easy. Like I tell my son all the time, there is NO easy way and NO substitute for good grades and hard work. If you learn to stay focused and apply yourself to whatever you want to become, it will happen but it will not be easy. If everything was easy we would all be rich! Quote
