Black Water Basstard Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Today me and my friend went out to a lake that we usually catch a bunch of bass but nows theres a ring of hydrilla about 20 feet from the shore and it consumed a whole corner of the lake how would you go about fishing this? Quote
dman Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 a similar thing to a pond Ive been fishing...Ive been getting there when its starting to get dark....Ive been getting a 15 minute window to fish a Buzzbait around it and they have been hitting that well....throwing a wacky rigged senko into pockets is doing good to - no surprise there Quote
Skinnyh2ofishin Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I'm assuming it's a small lake and you're fishing from shore since you mention it being 20 feet from shore. From shore it's usually a little more difficult since you can't get right on top of the fish to get them out if one gets you down in the thick stuff, but it's still worth fishing. From boat or shore I'd go about it with frogs/toads/topwaters during low light and throwing jigs or t-rigged worms/senkos/flukes/whatever during the heat of the day. Quote
Super User CWB Posted July 29, 2009 Super User Posted July 29, 2009 Flip or pitch baits into any pocket or heavy clump you see. Something different that catches your eye and makes it stand out from the rest. Also burn a Rage Tail Shad over the top. No worries about hanging up unless you hang up on a bass! Quote
Black Water Basstard Posted July 29, 2009 Author Posted July 29, 2009 yeah thanks guys i threw some zoom horny toads today for awhile i did ok but usually i do a lot better so i was just wondering how others would approach it but still any one has some ideas throw them out there Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Flippin' stick, braid, topwater frogs and T-rigs into isolated clumps. Quote
Black Water Basstard Posted July 30, 2009 Author Posted July 30, 2009 Yeah trust me i got 30lb braid right now seems to work pretty good so far Quote
gordonusnret Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Use that 30lb braid,a senko, rigged with no weight, and a weedless hook.Lay it right on top of the vegetation, retrieve it with short hops, let it sink in the pockets, and get ready for a good strike.I love the weeds and vegetation in ponds and other areas that I fish,It has paid off many times.I have had a rather large tiger musky grab my bait, right at the edge,of a pocket, while fishing for bass, this way.
