dogknot Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 How far do you travel to fish for an 1 day trip? Quote
Super User cart7t Posted July 19, 2009 Super User Posted July 19, 2009 To get to a good lake? 60-70 miles are the closest. To get to a reservoir that has good fishing with unlimited HP boat operation? 160 miles is the closest. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted July 19, 2009 Super User Posted July 19, 2009 The nearest lake that holds fish and has unlimited horsepower is around an hour. The nearest lake is about 30 minutes, but the river is less than five, just don't have a boat that I can comfortably float the river in. Quote
TommyBass Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 The main lake I fish is 4 min from my house (normal no HP reg). There are MANY others anywhere from 5-30 min away that are all electric only. The next resevoirs nearby with no HP limits are around 60 min + Quote
aarogb Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 The closest lakes for me are about 30 minutes away. The two are called Jordan lake and Shearon Harris lake. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted July 19, 2009 Super User Posted July 19, 2009 My favorite is across the street, but I have to go to the opposite side to put in. Ten minutes, or less. Sawdy Pond, five minutes. South Watuppa, six minutes. Stafford Pond ten to twelve minutes. Cook Pond twenty minutes. Lake Noquochoke fifteen minutes. Hands down, the best of the bunch is the pond across the street. Surrounded by private property. Weekdays, it's peaceful and quiet. Weekends are too, but there is more activity on the pond. Typical shoreline scene. Quote
BassnMan Mike Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 I have to go at least 60 miles to fish any kind of water, then again I live in the middle of the Mojave Desert about 90 miles as the crow flies from Death Valley CA. My nearest lake is Lake Isabella, I have to go from about 2200 feet elevation, over Walker Pass, 5525 feet elevation to get to it but its well worth the drive Quote
RobE Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 Eight miles Eastward puts me on Lake Norfork. Twenty miles NorthWest on Bull Shoals. Five to the West on the White River. 100 yards finds me on a 2 acre pond. Right across the hall from my computer is a 120 gallon bathtub where I sometimes check the action of lures. Is that as strange as my wife thinks it is? Quote
crw Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 10 minutes from a small lake (Lake Chehaw), 15 minutes from 3 different ramps on a river (Flint River), 20 minutes from a medium sized lake (Lake Blackshear), 1.5 hours from Lake Seminole. Quote
MichBassMan Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I live in the enconomic arm pit of our country (michigans upper peninsula). But the hunting and fishing makes it well worth it. Probley 30 decent lakes and 5 good river systems from 2-60 miles from home. Quote
