douglasd Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Please excuse a bass noob question... Regarding crankbaits...does anyone ever put a tail/trailer (whether pork or plastic) on one like you would a spoon or jig? Or since most are already designed to look like a bait fish, should it always only be fished by itself? Thanks for the input Quote
kms399 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 fish by itself if you want to spice it up a bit put some mega strike or other scent on it Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 21, 2009 Super User Posted March 21, 2009 Change speeds often and run it into anything you can to create a reaction strike. I also fish them to dig into the bottom. Catch lots of fish while digging it into a hard (Sandy, rock, etc.) bottom. Anything to make it shuck and jive. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 21, 2009 Super User Posted March 21, 2009 I've put feather tails on cranks, but found no difference. Be aware that putting anything on some crankbaits will alter, often deaden, the action. Especially anything with mass, like pork. Quote

douglasd Posted March 22, 2009 Author Posted March 22, 2009 Thanks to everyone for the input. That's what I thought but just wanted to be sure. Like I said, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to bass. I've fished them occasionally with plastic worms and a few spinnerbaits, but very seldom used crankbaits. Thanks again. Doug Quote
