Please excuse a bass noob question...

Regarding crankbaits...does anyone ever put a tail/trailer (whether pork or plastic) on one like you would a spoon or jig? Or since most are already designed to look like a bait fish, should it always only be fished by itself?

Thanks for the input

fish by itself if you want to spice it up a bit put some mega strike or other scent on it

Change speeds often and run it into anything you can to create a reaction strike. I also fish them to dig into the bottom. Catch lots of fish while digging it into a hard (Sandy, rock, etc.) bottom. Anything to make it shuck and jive.

I've put feather tails on cranks, but found no difference.

Be aware that putting anything on some crankbaits will alter, often deaden, the action. Especially anything with mass, like pork.

Or putting too large of hooks on it...

Thanks to everyone for the input. That's what I thought but just wanted to be sure. Like I said, I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to bass. I've fished them occasionally with plastic worms and a few spinnerbaits, but very seldom used crankbaits.

Thanks again.
