SuperNewbie Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I was just wondering what the first artificial bait you ever caught a fish one was Me it was a 1/8 oz green and black back white belly jitterbug Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Renegade 4" curly tail worm in Motor Oil color weightless with a 5/0 Eagle Claw hook, LOL!!!! Quote
Bassaholic84 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 So long ago i have no clue....im sure it was some kind of plastic worm with a spincast set up Quote
bassman31783 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Can't remember for sure but I'm pretty sure that it was either a Teeny Torpedo or a Beetle Spin. Quote
endless Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 mine of course was the watermelon 4" senko texas rigged. Quote
LCpointerKILLA Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 zara spook. this was during my migration from the salt to the freshwater. Quote
RobE Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I remember it distinctly even after 35 years. I was 8 yrs old and my uncle Bill Fletcher and I were fishing Lake Norfork at night. He had rigged me with a 7" grape Jelly Worm. I pulled in a 3 pounder! He even bought me a little stick-on patch from Panther Bay marina the next day. The kind where you write on it the size of the fish. I wore that patch proudly! Quote
garry77 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 First fish was probably on a roostertail, first bass was on a rebel teeny wee craw crankbait. Quote
crw Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Mann's plastic worm, circa 1972/3 or Rebel broke back minnow. At that time I could afford a 5 pack of worms (2.00) and a Rebel (2.50). If you broke off with the rebel you went to get it. Fishing for bass with live bait (shiners) was a lot cheaper. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 7" berkley power worm, black grape. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 Not sure, but my best guess would be a red and white Daredevle. Quote
Koop Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 First fish on artificial, would be a 16" northern with a red and white daredevil when I was 8. First bass on artificial was with a 1/8oz chartreuse and white spinner Quote
CookieMonst3r Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 My first artificial bait fish was a Spanish Mackeral on Luhr Jensen's Gold Spoon 1/2 oz. Good times 8-) Quote
skillet Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I was about 10 or 11 on a vacation with my family at Lake Norfork. It was maybe 3/4 lb. bass on my first baitcaster and a red and white Daredevil. Never thought I'd hear the same thing from other folks ... skillet Quote

mattm Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 A spoon. I was probably about six and had now idea what I was doing. Caught it in my dads tank reeling it in a steady retrieve on a Zebco 33, LMAO. Funny thing is that was a good pattern for that tank. No telling how many I caught that way before I "knew better". Quote
eastkybass Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Mine was on a 6 inch culrit ribbon tale worm in shad pattern. 1 lb spot fishing from the dock at cave run lake. I was 11 or 12 years old. Quote
tnbassfisher Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Well like most young kids, I probably caught my first fish on a night crawler. However, I believe I caught my first one on an artificial with a Rooster Tail. Still use Rooster Tails very often. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 A 12 year old boy found a Crème Scoundrel "Catalpa/Catawba" (black with 2 yellow stripes) between the wooden floor slats of a handmade rental boat. Quote
bigtimfish Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Mine was a Devils horse. I was not supposed to be throwing it. I was so young and they have 3 sets or trebles. I think I was about 5. I was so nervous I forgot to reel it in, I just walked backwards until it was on the bank. ;D Quote

Super User senile1 Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 I'm sure I caught one on bait earlier, but the my first lure that snagged a bass was a Rapala Original Floater. Quote
