Jig Thrower Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 The lake I normally fish always gets hammered with tournaments and there are always multiple people fishing. My problem is everytime i go to fish boat docks it seems there are no fish in the lake and i have tried everything from jigs to soft plastics to crank and jerkbaits. Does anyone have any other ideas plus the lake is getting really tough no matter what you throw at them im sure they see it two or three times a day. Any help would be great. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 Find off shore structure and channel swings that don't get much pressure or make your own cover in deep water. Lots of lakes have 2 different populations of bass. The shallow dwellers see lots of baits while the guys who live deep don't see nearly as many. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted July 14, 2009 Super User Posted July 14, 2009 Go back at night. You'll think you're at a different lake. Quote
crw Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I have success with spinners around and under docks. Quote
cabullwinkle Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 try smaller plastics, maybe 4" or so. You could also make sure you really slow down. A lot of tournament guys seem to lack the patience required for really slowing down. carolina rig might be a good choice also. Quote
tnbassfisher Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 If at all possibly try and find areas that don't get fished as heavily. Also, try going deeper when it's hot out. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Try new things(baits/techniques) out if there is high fishing pressure there! Finesse tactics can be a good choice. Try fishing areas you haven't tried yet. Also, live bait is a great alternative man! It can tell you where they are than you can have more confidence in certain areas! Quote
aarogb Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 Dropshot the pilings with a 4.5" Reaction Innovation Flirt worm. The important thing to remember is DO NOT over work your bait. You will be surprised how much action this thing has without you ever moving it. Quote
