Jig Thrower Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 i have no problem when catchin fish through the day but i tried night fishing a week ago and i felf like a first timer out there what do u guys throw at night? Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 Throw the same thing at night as in the day. BUT, I tend to throw the spinnerbait and Zaraspook a little more at night. 8-10" worm works well too but fish it slow. Quote
Jig Thrower Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 do u fish off the bottom or leave them weightless on your worms Quote
Super User burleytog Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 Jig, worm, big spinnerbait, crankbait. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 not much of a dead night fisher myself, but i will stay out till the break of nightfall on occasions. my best producer is any 10 in. worm with a screw in style bullet weight, fished extremely slow along the shoreline. hope it helps ya. Quote
Super User Catt Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 Despite popular belief bass do not morph into a new creature just because the sun sets; fish the same baits, same locations, and same techniques you would during the day. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 Try fishing during the day with your eyes closed next time you are on fish. That will let you know whether or not you can highten your other senses to get the job done at night. Quote
wvbucketmouth Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Big ole Black Jitterbug. Plop plop plop plop plop WHAM!! Now thats FUN ;D Quote
7mm-08 Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Popping scum frogs! Those that say fish the same as you do during the day are dead on. Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 do u fish off the bottom or leave them weightless on your worms I use a 8-10" worm with a 1/8-3/16 tru-tungsten worm weight. I use this same rig in the day time too. Some people like to insert a rattle into the worm but I don't. Another option is to put a glass bead between the weight and hook. I think the bead and weight puts of more noise. I have also been doing okay with a black/blue speck senko. I fish it weightless or put a splitshot about a foot above the hook. I use it with #8-10 mono.(forget which # line I have on my reel, I think it's #8) Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 13, 2009 Super User Posted July 13, 2009 I reduce my lure choices down to a few after dark. Texas rigged plastic worm with brass & glass bead or rattle in the bullet weight. Jig & pig Deep diving crank bait. Buzz bait. Spinner bait. I change to heavier line then the day time. The reason is it's more difficult to tie good knots and make accurate casts when you can't see well and the bass are not line shy at night. During the summer night period the bass where I fish tend move up from deeper into water between 1 to 12 feet deep in rocky brushy areas and outside weed lines. WRB Quote
tnbassfisher Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Not going to lie to you all one bit. I get a little freaked out when I'm around water at night. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 It was 116degrees here today. My fishing trips are always overnighters. I like Jitterbugs and Hula Poppers for bass, live bluegills for flatties. Happy fishing. Quote
DINK WHISPERER Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Big black worms w/rattles or black topwater frogs Quote

If you did that in the lakes around here, you would come back to the ramp with a big bag of jack squat. Thermocline during the day, shallow at night. Quote
