Brian4618 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Was going to the lake this weekend and was wondering what kinda lures you guys use to get the fish that are down deep. The deepest diving crank baits i got dive between 6 and 12 feet. Anyone have any suggestions on any other lures (not just crank baits). Thanks Quote
djmax22 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 3/4 oz football jigs, Carolina rig, dropshot, Norman D22, Lucky craft 20, Manns 30+. The possibilities are endless. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 17, 2009 Super User Posted March 17, 2009 Ok guys there are no shallow lures, deep lures, spring lures, summer lures, fall lures, winter lures; all lures will work if the proper location is right. Texas rigs, Carolina rigs, drop shot rigs, spinner baits, jigs, swim baits ect will work either shallow or deep. Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Texas Rigs, Carolina Rigs, dropshots, football jigs, swimbaits, 3/4 to 2oz spinnerbaits, Rapala DT 16 Quote
Brian4618 Posted March 18, 2009 Author Posted March 18, 2009 I have been riggin up some drop shot rigs and i was wondering what size sinkers would you recommend to go down at most 20 feet? Quote
The Next KVD Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 10 to 20 feet down a 1/4oz. is my mainstay unless the wind is blowing than I step it up to 3/8 oz. shallower than 10 ft. gets the call for an 1/8oz. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 18, 2009 Super User Posted March 18, 2009 Keep your mind focused on only two things: depth & speed control. There have been some great suggestions here already. I'd only add blade baits to the list of jigs, DD cranks and the drop shot. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 21, 2009 Super User Posted March 21, 2009 Carolina rigged lizard, heavier lipless crankbaits, bigger spinnerbaits, or even curly tails or tubes on heavy jigheads. Quote
Super User iceintheveins Posted March 21, 2009 Super User Posted March 21, 2009 In clearer water drop shotting and shaky heads also work. Quote
The_Natural Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 I use 4 baits for deep water: a C-Rig, a Football Jig, a crankbait, and a heavy spinnerbait. I'll add that I am a crankbait nut, and this time of year with the colder water some make the mistake of fishing their crankbait too slow. I have a great article by david fritt's on how he fishes a crankbait in colder water. He believes it is a mistake to slow your bait down, and he advises to pull/sweep your crankbait...reel in the slack...and repeat all the way to the baot. It works.... Quote
casterus60 Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Hey Natural, can you share this article or tell where can I find it please. Thanx. Adam Quote
booneangler Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 football jig, crankbait, T Rig with a big worm. Quote
