George Welcome Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Yesterday: 85 in the AM Don't know about the afternoon. Quote
fivesixone Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Man, this heat's definitely been keeping me from doing so much bass fishin... I've only been going out in the evenings and it's still friggin' blazing! Looks like your actual temp. up there is higher, but you guys don't have the humidity we got down here! Good lord! Quote
hawgwalker Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 Having trouble getting out of the sixties here in Maine. Forgot what the sun looks like Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted June 22, 2009 Super User Posted June 22, 2009 Yeah, its miserable down here in Broward right now as well. I tried to get out in the backyard to do a little fishing yesterday and it just wasn't much fun in the heat we had this weekend. Before it was non stop rain stopping me from catching fish, now it's this incredible heat. Summer is going to be ridiculous this year if it's this hot. Even the peacocks down here have all but disappeared with this heat. I've got a nice deep lake here to fish in and I know the fish are all down deep, but without electronics thats making stuff no fun. I'm already looking forward to the winter cool down and it's only June. Quote
SammyLee Posted June 22, 2009 Posted June 22, 2009 It ain't much better here in Memphis, air temps in the high ninetys and the water surface temp was 88 on Saturday at the lake by my house. There is a thermocline about 8 feet down at least. My special secret lake has turned brown and the water is low and where I caught 30 LMB 6 weeks ago, Satuday I got 3. Man, hard times. Quote
mrlitetackle Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 gotta love the stupid heat here in FL summers. the orlando area is getting it real bad as well now.... i d@mn near had a heat stroke while being out the other day, started to feel tingly and light headed............ that was enough, sit down for a moment...... and call it a day. Super User Bassn Blvd Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 Ft. Lauderdale hit 100 today(next county south of Palm Beach, Fl) and I believe it was Vero Beach that had ALL time record high of 101. I went out yesterday and tore'em up. They started hitting about 7pm. I went out today at 5 but the heat was too uncomfortable. It was almost as bad as trying to take a dump while sitting in a sauna. Quote
bigtimfish Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 This is the same thing I am going through. This week I can go fishing either Wed or Thurs. It is going to be 101 degs on both days. The lake I was going to go to is 18Ft at the deepest part. I do not think I am going to drive for 2 hours just to fish from 6am to noon. The other day I went to Rayburn and in my favorite cove the water temp was 86.4 degs at 7 am. What the h***? Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 I can't hardly stand to think about it. My little spot here in FL hasn't seen rain in weeks. I watch the radar day in and day out and there seems to be a giant shield over Bradenton. It's a fricken oven here > Quote
fivesixone Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 It was almost as bad as trying to take a dump while sitting in a sauna. That doesn't sound all that bad... ;D ;D ;D Seriously though, it looks like a lot of the country is getting hit by some high temps... Global warming?? ;D Quote
Dalton Tam Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Here in Louisiana its been hotter than I've ever seen. It reached 102 today and thats not the heat index thats the temp. I can't believe how hot it is here. 5 minutes after going outside i'm drenched in sweat. We went fishing saturday and caught 2 and missed a couple under some heavy shady cover but the bite was not there, we we're only getting reaction strikes. You ppl up north can send us some rain as soon as u get tired of it. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 Heat and humidity has been extra tuff this year but the lack of wind for me is the killer. I don't freshwater fish in the summer anyway, but the beach has been terrible. Very slight west breeze which blows the noseuums out. 2 weeks ago I was killing the snook, this week with the lack of wind and high temps have yet to catch one. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 SO........How's the fishin'?? Seriously. Do the bass care on your water? Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 Temps will be 100+ here the next 4 days. April 22 was the last day we had a drop of rain. Quote
Super User Catt Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 Yelp it's hot but I love it; drives the bass deep where Texas Rigs, Jig-N-Craws, or Carolina Rigs account for 95% of the bass which just breaks my little pea picking heart. Quote
Super User Raul Posted June 23, 2009 Super User Posted June 23, 2009 What a bunch of whiners :, what you rather have, a couple of 100 degree weeks or freezing for several months like our northern brothers ? EastTexasBassin Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Yeah, its gettin up to 100 for the next week here in Texas. I've never been night fishing but now I'm really motivated to try it out. Quote

Sfritr Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 It just reached 80 here in Michigan yesterday. Thats been a heat wave up here. I'll take it every day....... Quote
Mark J Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Taking a break from the freshwater roast and heading out to Boca Grande tomorrow to work on some grouper, snapper, and maybe a tarpon.....12 hours = lots of water and sunscreen... Quote
Fishing Cowgirl Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I went out both days this weekend at West Lake Toho, practically wilted, but found Bass under the grass matts. The step son (9 yrs old) was pretty miserable till he got to reel a fish in, that was hooked for him. He was using a little Zebco with small chartruse spinner, and I just kept waiting to see if it would fly out of his hands when a fish busted on it. I just went with heavy enough weights, T-rigged flukes / Skinny Dippers/ and Ugly Otters to get through the thick stuff. I also ran a Frog / Cane Toad across the top of the green veg and then let the frog "fall" off the edge and sink a little. I let it wait then twitched it a couple times before reeling it to me. The Bass would pound it on the twitch or the fall. I have a Tournament Sunday, and just pray for a bit of a breeze, besides when I run to a diff spot. I can sympathize some w/ the northern fishermen..lived in Wyoming 6 yrs, and tournament fished that coldest day of the year in Feb at Lk Kissimmee. Glad I had a save face mask, but still froze fingers on the reel. I love fishing! Quote
