just out of interest, shouldnt we divide it by species, cause it seems like the SM numbers are higher. and some people like me are donthave the ability to fish for them. it just for fun I still like 2nd better than 7th

You wouldn't be in 2nd, though. More like 3rd or 4th. If we split them by species, I'd be in 1st w/ 57.78, then T-Rage, then you. Haven't looked at the other smallie entries, so there might be one more.

I didnt sign up but what would my 15.1 LMB be? the state record is 21.12

Good for 1st!  Matt, I saw that post, and that is one great accomplishment!  Congrats to you.  Very humbling, and yet inspiring to see what you are doing with those MONSTER baits. ;)

Nope I cant get first. I didnt sign up and the fish was not accuratly weighed. I am just curious as to what its point value would be. I am a little rusty on my math formulas.

so this contest is over now, and it sucks because just last night i caught a 4lb 0oz bass which would have given me 39.96 points, but rules say fish had to be submitted by 7am yesterday..oh well..

so who won?

Congrats to Dwight Hottie

Great Job on those monster smallies.

Also, thanks to everyone who played. I think these are fun and you guys made this one better than last year. A special thanks to T-Rage for keeping track of things for us.

Dwight, you can now brag for a year that you are the king of the State vs State.  Also PM me your address and favorite plastic so I can send out your well deserved prize.

Thanks for playing

Congrats Dwight.

Fun idea 'Daddy!

I have a suggestion: I've always noted that while SM and LM exhibit nearly the same average weights, the max size is much greater in LM. This skews the result toward SM (since you factor in state records). I do think a separate species ranking is appropriate.

Congrats to Dwight!  This is a cool contest.  I signed up but I had forgotten that I was going to be gone on vacation for half the month of May.  My stepson's wedding was in Panama City Beach, Florida and we made a vacation out of it.  (No fishing during that time period, unfortunately.)  I didn't manage to catch anything in late April or early May that was big enough to compete so I didn't post a catch.

And I don't have access to Florida strain largemouth...

Several of those that entered top finishing smallmouths also had secondary largemouths that beat your fish. My LARGEMOUTH scored a 57. T-Rage also had a high scoring largemouth.

Personally, I'd like to see it split by species, since I think we northerners have a bit of an advantage, seeing as the largest smallies are concentrated shallow during the spawn.

At any rate, its impressive group of catches, and everyone should be proud that entered fish. I know the smallie I entered was the 2nd biggest of my life.

Hey guys thanks for the congrats. It was a fun contest. I do think it would be more fair if there was a separate category for largemouth and smallmouth for each state then there would be two winners. What does everyone else think?

I agree.  I plan on entering it next year and I am looking forward to it.

I had a smallie division last year and nobody posted any smallies.  Next year maybe we could have 3 divisions.  Large, small and spot.

Thanks Again for Playing

FD,

I'll be posting smallies until I'm dead. A lot of guys missed the contest posting last year, I know I did.  :)

Congrats Dwight!

I am with Dwight, I will be posting smallies, not really a LM fishery close to me.

well not for nothing out of the 52 something competitors we only had like 12 respond. makes it tough to have 3 categories when no one replys. i think that if you sign up you have to try and throw a fish pic up even if its small. maybe we need reminder messages sent out ? i think this is an AWESOME thing to do and def fun as heck. i like competing against other states and people in this kinda way and dont mind helping out. it would be awesome to do a few categories but would it be worth it if only 5 or so guys do each category? i think itd be kool to do a lmb a smb and an overall? id also like to do a east vs west thing. tons of different things and ways to make this a better tournament what you think?
