Super User Muddy Posted June 6, 2009 Super User Posted June 6, 2009 When I have a really good day, I'll either say, "The lake was on FIRE!" (say it with a heavy southern drawl, "Tha lake was on FAHR!") or I say, "It was STUPID fishing!" Hey why do you have to put me into this, geezzz!!!!!
swilly78 Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 "Stinkin' pretty" for a real good day. "The skunks outta the boat" for a day with a few, and "skunked" for the day with zero.
Muad Dib Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 we got after it... slayed em.... took it to em.... my favorite. we hammered em
Pitchinkid Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Depends whos asking and how well we are doing. If its another angler and we are killing them, usually say " we caught 1 or 2" In a tournament and talking to another boat and we only got 2 fish. "We got probably 18 lbs."
CJ Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Yeah situation dictates. I been known to be humble and say," it's a little slow". But normally I use the same as Chris and Bizz and say I whacked em!
Super User flechero Posted June 7, 2009 Super User Posted June 7, 2009 Not trying to argue with you flechero because I'm usually a fan of yours, but it's considered socially acceptable to say "I murded the bass" so how is raped any different. Both are heinous crimes, and "raped" can have multiple less-offensive meanings, such as pillaged, whereas "murded" has one clear meaning. Most likely when people first started saying "I murded this" or "I murded that," it was considered offensive, but then it gradually became accepted as appropriate slang. I think "raped" might be the same way, and gradually it will either die out or be accepted as an acceptable slang word. I'm nor saying this is right and I'm not advocating saying "raped" but I don't see how there's any difference between saying "I murded the bass" and "I raped the bass" If we all agreed on everything this would be a boring site. IMO, there is a big difference between socially acceptable and right. I don't like watching network tv and hearing cuss words either. Having had a close friend that was raped and knowing another that was murdered makes me a little more uptight about it than most, probably... Although, I think the phrases murdered 'em, killed 'em, etc. started back when few were into catch and release so at least there was some truth to it at one time.
Super User Paul Roberts Posted June 7, 2009 Super User Posted June 7, 2009 "Hammer'd 'em." or "Put the hammer to 'em." Now I'm more apt to say, "I'm on 'em."
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Remember, I'm looking for 1 fish so .... "Found her" is what I used last night and hopefully again tonight
Tim Ford Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 it's either: "tore 'em up" or "wore 'em out" Sorry. I know those are both pretty generic and boring, but it works for me.
Super User Muddy Posted June 7, 2009 Super User Posted June 7, 2009 I heard a new form of denial yesterday while fishing. I met a fella who keeps his boat right next to mine where we fish, we share some info. We were by the ramp and a guy asked him how they were biting ( the guy had a wonderful day) His answer If I was a seal I would be starving today ;D

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted June 8, 2009 Super User Posted June 8, 2009 The issue was dropped, thanks for bringing it up again. Who are you to tell me what is offensive? The connotation of that word is offensive to me. If it is not to you, that is fine.

I work daily with many young women who have suffered and rape and I can tell you all without exception cringe when they here stuff like this. Take your official definition and put in it school where it belongs. In the real every day world this term is rude and unacceptable
