BassnMan Mike Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Figured that title would get your attention. Anyhow, like the title says, I have a larger than average head, 25 inches round, and am looking for a hat that will provide coverage in the sun. Now before you start thinking things like, that guys head is out of proportion or something like that, I am a big guy, I stand 6'2 with a 54 inch chest so I don't look like a freak with an unusually huge cranium. Anyhow, I am looking for something that will help keep the sun off of my neck, face and ears that does not make me look like a dork, HA! I don't want people to go by and say things like, Look at that Hat, I bet he rode the short bus to school or Son, there is what we call a window licker, HA! I think you get the picture. Are there anymore Fat Headed bass fishermen out there that have the same problem and have solved this dilemma? Help me out guys, but please try and be nice, HA! Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 2, 2009 Super User Posted June 2, 2009 Try Tilley Hats. Great sun protection. Lifetime guarantee & they float. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Try and give bigheadcaps.com a go I just ordered a couple caps from there. Perfect - plain white hats that will fit my huge head! I rarely find hats that fit, but this should be good :-) Thanks for the link. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted June 2, 2009 Super User Posted June 2, 2009 I have the opposite problem. Quote
The Outdoorsman Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 You could sew a piece of white cloth into the back of your hat. that way it covers your neck and when you dont need it, just tuck it into the hat and wear the hat like normal. Baseball hats have an inner lip/flap that you can sew that fabric to and not alter the outside of the hat. Quote
jeosbo01 Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 I got a 15 dollar "Big Man" Boonie hat from BPS in the spring and I love it. But I live in KY so my thresh-hold of what may seem like a short-bus idea could be different from yours Quote

BassnMan Mike Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 BWHAAAAAAAAAAA!! Thanks guys for not being too brutal. I'll have to give some of your ideals a try. You could sew a piece of white cloth into the back of your hat. that way it covers your neck and when you dont need it, just tuck it into the hat and wear the hat like normal. Baseball hats have an inner lip/flap that you can sew that fabric to and not alter the outside of the hat. This sounds interesting, might have to have the little woman try that for me, I'm no good at sewing. I live in KY so my thresh-hold of what may seem like a short-bus idea could be different from yours I'm sorry, I cant comment on that, I'm scared I'll upset someone, HA! You're built like Shrek! Thanks buddy! HA! i have a 5 gallon bucket you can borrow. If you have a bright neon green pickle bucket with some streamers hanging off of it, eye holes cut out and a fancy chin strap I'll pay for shipping. HA! lol be sure to take it off before you hit high speed or you may go para sailing That was one of the first things I thought of when I read your original post about the sombrero. Thanks again all!
