trapperjon Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 I thought about entering a little tournment this weekend and it runs into the night for a few hours and I was just wondering how or what is the best way to fish. Water is 81 degress and clear, lake isn't that deep about average 15 to 20 ft deep in the areas I fish. What kind of bait and how to use it. Im liking the senkos right now so can I keep on using them through the night or what. Thanks for any input on this. Jon Quote

swilly78 Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 Warm water + Night fishin = ozark smoke or cortez shad Boogie Baits. IMO Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted May 30, 2009 Super User Posted May 30, 2009 I night fish about 1/2 of the time. The only thing I do different from day fishing is I fish slower than during the day and I don't throw baits with treble hooks because of one late night trip to the hospital to get a jitterbug out of my cousin's thumb. CODbasser Posted May 30, 2009 Posted May 30, 2009 florescent line and a black light helps alot if you are planning on fishing a worm or a jig or somthing...if you are gonna use topwaters, spinnerbaits or somthing like that you probably wont need it...but like stated above...just fish like you did in the daytime... Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 30, 2009 Super User Posted May 30, 2009 7-10" black or June Bug worm. I have had pretty good success on the black blue/flake Senko lately also. Sometimes I'll put a small split shot about a foot above the Senko. Some people like to use rattles inside their worm. I 95% of the time don't. I think it's more of a confidence thing. If you decide to use a rattle then try this. Put a black glass bead between the bullet weight and hook. (recommend Tru-Tungstin weight) IMO, this combo makes a better noise than the rattle. The rattle can't even be heard when fishing slow, IMO. Quote
The Cloner Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 Hands down....until I come out with my own night time winner... it has to be the 7" single or double jointed MS Slammers! If your lake has big bass, then go with the 9" X2.... Believe you me... You will not be disappointed. Slow slow slow slow..twitch slow slow slow!!! WWWWAAAM!!! Always gets um! If you want to bling it... Then it can look like this! Quote

IdahoLunkerHunter Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Open water fish the same way as daylight. At night I really like to fish around docks with lights. If you fing a dock with lights pound that area. Quote

EastMarkME Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Full size One Minus...let it sit 30 seconds...then retrieve it so slow it hurts...so it stays on top and create a small wake almost like a Jitterbug. Mark Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 3, 2009 Super User Posted June 3, 2009 Kentucky. Tournament in the afternoon to late evening transition to darkness. 1. Tournament; fish your strengths so you don't donate your entry fee. 2. The bass should be active and moving from cooler deep water up to areas with good baitfish or crawdad populations. 3. Darkness; you will only be fishing a few hours during the night. This means you need to prepare for the afternoon to evening with standard lures and tackle. I would have one outfit with heavier line (15 to 20LB), with a Texas rigged 7 1/2" or 10" ribbon tail Power worm in Black with blue or red flakes. You should already have your 5 bass limit and now fishing for bigger bass. The T-rigged worm doesn't hang up at night, so you should be able to maximize your time fishing without retying. WRB PS; add a 8mm black glass bead and use a black 3/16 to 1/4 oz brass or tungsten bullet weight. The glass bead adds clicking sounds that help the bass find the worm. Quote
