DINK WHISPERER Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I would take him on..................it would be an honor to lose to my favorite pro angler, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 15, 2009 Super User Posted May 15, 2009 I could probably beat him at checkers. Quote
Mattlures Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Give KVD all his gear and I would take him on even, but my rules. 1 year to fish. Biggest 5 or biggest single fish throughout the year. All have to be caught in lakes in the USA no guides no private water. I would be the favorite and I would bet on myself Now a regular tournament, well I think I am above average and I am confident but I am also realistic. He would beat me 19 out of 20 times. on nuetral water. His water 49 out of 50. My water 9 out of 10. He is that good and a zebco wouldnt slwo him down much. I would refuse to fish against him with that handicap. If by some chance I got on a good bite and won, it would mean nothing because he was handicapped. Sure he can and does get beat and its possible for most of us to have a chance at beating him. But we are not supossed to beat him and it wouldnt happen very often. Now anytime we go into competition we have to believe we can win. Why even try if you dont think you can win. Even though I would loose to him those 49 out of 50 times I would still think I can win each time. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 15, 2009 Super User Posted May 15, 2009 On Toledo Bend the advantage would be mine, I already know where the big bass live. On Toledo Bend the advantage would be mine, I already know what techniques produce big bass The key for my success would be controlling days 1 & 2, by days 3 & 4 KVD will have adjusted. What are the odds I win, Hum On neutral water I would be at a disadvantage and everything would have to fall in place including KVD struggling. Over a years time! Dude he's 5x AOY Quote
George Welcome Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 The question isn't could you beat someone, but rather could you beat that someone when you have to put up from a $1000.00 - $3500.00 in order to attempt the challenge. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 15, 2009 Super User Posted May 15, 2009 Now this would be a cool TV show=Have a Pro go against you on YOUR home lake! This way it may be more fair, you know the lake, and that would be a plus for you,the Pro can't pre fish the lake! Quote

midnighthrasher Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 I could beat him... if we were on my lake which he has not pre-fished or done research on and he is blindfolded and dropped at the boat drop. I have been fishing my lake for 27 years. I could get my limit prety fast then head to the spots to cull up. Without a map my lake is a real land mine. The canadian government dumped rock into my lake while creating the st-lawrence seaway so without research, experience or electronics your done in no time flat. You can go from 12ft to 6 inches with no warning. Probably find KVD floating down the lake still fishing. ;D After beating him do you think i would absorb his super powers? Quote
Fish Chris Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 Well now, that totally depends.... Could I beat him in a tournament ? Ha ! Are you kidding ? I probably could not beat KVD's grandmother in a tournament ;-) LOL Could I beat him on a fun fishing trip for numbers of 'normal sized fish' ? Still extremely unlikely. Could I beat him by catching a 'bigger fish'..... on a lake which I know like the back of my hand.... which he's never fished in his life ? Maybe. Nothing like stacking the odds in ones favor ;-) No doubt the guy is a stick.... But his kind of bass fishing and mine, is about as different as racing and golf. Peace, Fish Quote

Fish Chris Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Ya' know Catt and Hammer, I really don't think KVD's boat would give him such a big advantage. IMPO, high performance bass boats are totally overhyped. KVD's awesome tournament success has SO much to do with his personal fishing abilities, and SO little to do with his boat. And if KVD himself told you anything else, he would just be 1) being modest, and 2) hyping his sponsors. A guy just doesn't need 250hp and a bunch of glitter to catch bass. Fish Quote

MyKeyBe Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Hell yeah I'd whoop his booty! I use only Shimano reels, G Loomis rods, Yozuri line, Yamamoto plastics, and Lucky Craft hard lures. "Duh nuh nuh nuh... Can't touch this!" ;D : Quote
Blake R. Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 If I happened to fish against him the same day that Hell froze over, without a doubt. Honestly, in a one day tournament I MAY be able to hold my own. Past that, I get smoked. Quote
Scruffy Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I'd be dominated. I'm 18 years old and have only been fishing two years. I can't wait till I feel I've acquired enough knowledge to even take on the guy who's "mentoring" me. It'll be fun! Then we'll talk about KVD. ;D Quote
