Night Time Spinnerbait???

Those of you that fish at night how do you mostly fish your spinnerbaits at night. Slow role them on the bottum or do you yo you them? Still learning the night time blade.

I fish 80% of my time at night but don't throw anything under 10" anymore. That aside, it would depend on where you are fishing it and how the bass are set up. If they are

belly on the bottom- real slow roll

suspended- slow roll but in the desired depth range

subsurface to top- rip it

Now that's for flats and humps, etc open water fishing (where you really want to be at night anyway) If you are beating the bank with it, try everything including , ripping it while in the weeds of the shoreline and killing it as it leaves the wee3ds and hits open water.

Mix it up, try everything, but most importantly, pay attention to what you were doing when it worked, and duplicate that. Establish a pattern.

Great to hear you are trying it at night, I think its the absolutely the best time to fish, then again I only fish at night ! I will tell u what delivers for me, first are you over grass ? I fish almost exclusively  over grass in the 3 to ten 10 foot range and I will tell you if I just rip the bait along , my night will be nothing to talk a bout, but if you will slow the spinnerbait down until you feel it just bumping off the top of the grass man it's majic. Your catch ratio will go way up, and i mean way up. As far as jigging a spinnerbait I do fish some docks extended into the lake, I fish a super short arm zorro spinnerbait around these docks and if my normal presentation doesn't work I will let the bait fall into the deeper water and will reel and jig the bait back to me, I have had great success around docks doing this. One more thing, throw as close to the bank as you can, I have caught a lot of bass that I would swear were standing on the bank. These are just a couple of my favorites and I hope it helps, if you are ever on T-BEND and pass someone turning and burning a spinnerbait at night give me a shout it's probably HAMMER23.   Good luck

WHATEVER you fish it on, over or near,...make sure you try bumping it off these structures and covers.  Like Hammer said for grass,...bump the tops,....in sticks,...bump the sticks, ...rocky flat, bump the rocks.  This causes reaction bites which can be violent,...hold that rod tightly.

Like me and LBH said, I dont care if you are on the moon, there is some kind of structure bass relate to, no matter how big or small. It may be rocks , small drops or terrain changes ,plus it is a well known fact bass will cover a lot if ground feeding at night . I recommend you fish hard ,feel for anything different and when you catch a fish stop immediatly and think about what just happened, what did I just do to catch that bass then develop a pattern off of that and u WILL catch fish !!

I try to keep things very simple after dark.

T-riggged plastic worms

jig & pig

deep diving crankbait

single spin spinner bait

Swimbait

* top water wake bait

To start with use a 1/2 oz black single spin and use the 4" end of a ribbon tail power worm for the trailer. I use my old T-rigged black/red 10" power worms for spinner bait trailers at night.

Target the points with both rocks and wood, fish the prime areas within a few miles, so you are not running around the lake in the dark.

Fish slowly and thoroughly. Bottom bump the deep lures in 1 to 10 feet of water, unless you meter deeper bass. Retrieve the spinnerbait slow and steady, cast at 45 degree angles to shallow water for a slower decent into the deeper water. The angled casts cover more area.

* if see or hear active surface fish, I like to use a big wake bait at night.

Fishing the lakes you're fishing, fish it like a jig.

Toss it out, let the bait fall to the bottom.  When it gets there, give it a few seconds, then pop it off the bottom.  Reel up the slack and then an addition 2-3 cranks.  Then let the bait fall back to the bottom on slack line.

I've caught fish like that in every east TN lake but Watauga.
