low_pro Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Do you listen to the radio while fishing (specifically in a boat)? Do you feel it has any effect on how many fish you catch (positive or negative)? Just curious. Comments welcome -CV Quote
Eddie Munster Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Voted No. I like listening for activity on the lake and fishing is my time away from electronics (other than depth finder). Someone had a thread awhile ago about Ipods and I think the concensus was no music while fishing. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Absolutely The bass on Toledo Bend are partial to Lynyrd Skynyrd! Quote
Eddie Munster Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Absolutely The bass on Toledo Bend are partial to Lynyrd Skynyrd! Skynyrd ain't music it's the Gospel..... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Radio or CD... Tennessee smallmouth are attracted to loud country music! 8-) Quote
Dad_Golf_Fish Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 MP3 player hooked to the onboard stereo (sometimes the only thing that's "hooked") when the youngster is with me. She must have her Shrek soundtrack. Quote
George Welcome Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Our bass prefer the two-step, being southern and all that. : Quote
Little Luey Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 No boat here but no music either on my pontoon or while bank fishing. Quote
HAMMER23 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Thats what night fishing is all about, PEACE AND QUIET ! just the sounds of the lake. VOTED NO !!! Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 Thats what night fishing is all about, PEACE AND QUIET ! just the sounds of the lake. VOTED NO !!! Nah dude night fishing is about bouncing a worm or jig to the rhythm of Sweet Home Alabama Quote
aarogb Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Even though my dad listens to it every outing I prefer not to listen to music at all, but since it is my dad's boat can't really do anything about it. I do believe also that music will sometimes scare the fish. Quote
George Welcome Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Bass like to be entertained out there: singing and dancing are very much appreciated by them and will certainly turn the bite on. Even better is falling in the water with cell phone attached. After that it's a bass on every cast. ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted May 4, 2009 Super User Posted May 4, 2009 No way. My part of the world is too noisy already. Plus it interferes with the voices in my head....... Quote
CatBassin Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Every so often I will. Me and a buddy found out that shell cracker love hardcore death metal on Lake Lookout. Quote
bronzewb22 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Although i do enjoy blasting skynyrd as much as the next smallie fishermen, ive found that when i really need a bite, it pays to listen. Sometimes you'll miss a splash next to the boat or be to engrossed in the music to notice something jumping near the bank. That could have been the fish of a lifetime. Quote
Super User Micro Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 If the radio is on, I can't hear my bait plop in the water, or whine of my reel during a cast, or myself cuss when I screw up a cast... Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 The voices in my head prefer silence. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 Several of my most successful days bass fishing was due to hearing the splash of baitfish being chased on the surface more than 50 yards away. Not only do I not have music on my boat, I don't even like having a person with me that talks a lot. Quote
Joe Boss Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I voted never. When I am fishing I like the music that nature makes over anything that comes out of a radio. Quote
Super User CWB Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 Only if it's Heavy Metal. Gets fish angry and they hit anything in sight. Quote
Little Luey Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Not only do I not have music on my boat, I don't even like having a person with me that talks a lot. LOL, I know what you are saying! I agree with that. Quote
NasTMcfingas Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Voted No, I get enough music on the drive to the spot. Quote
Bassnajr Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Need ALL of your senses to fish IMO. ajr If you're screwing around fun fishing...different story..... Quote
SaintsFn Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 I pop one ear but from my Zune. Normally, would put in two, but since i bank fish, I want to make sure I don't have to put a hook into an onshore fish of the two legged variety. But, if I had a boat, something with some bass in it. Don't Bass like bass?? Quote
