Triton21 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Living in Northern Michigan presents an interesting selection / collection of species options. Even though the open water fishing season is fairly brief as compared to most of our more southerly located fishing brother and sisters, so many of my local lakes include a very nice list of assorted game fish to chose from. The regular panfish choices including white and black crappie, assorted sunfishes and some very decent yellow perch are almost always available. But often times I am fishing in water that produces both Large and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike as well as Muskie and Tiger Muskie. It is very cool when one of these "non-target" species ends up in the net. It it also a bummer to get bit-off - especially when you're throwing a bait you're not particularly fond of losing :'( So Yes, I am definitely a mutli-species angler - although most of the time the fish make that choice for me........ 8-) A-Jay Are you a U-PER? bass or bass ? Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 My fishing trips are usually 24 hours in the boat on the lake. I fish for largemouth, smallmouth, striped, and white bass, channel and flathead catfish, crappie, and sunfish (for bait for flathead cats). Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~ Quote

basser89 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Largemouths take the majority of my attention but I do enjoy going out a few times a year targetting musky on the Potomac. Sometimes when I'm smallie fishing, I'll stumble across some walleyes that are on a jerkbait or crankbait bite. If I find some, I'll stop and fish for them. Can hardly beat a couple small keepers on the grill! Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted April 23, 2009 Super User Posted April 23, 2009 I love to fish for big bluegill and crappie, and for a good fight there is nothing like a 5+ pound cat on the end of your line. Quote
carrothead Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Catfishin', Bream fishin', and Suckerfishin' are all awesome. Most of the time when I'm not just bassin', I'll fish for all things at once with a nightcrawler carolina rigged. ;D Quote
coffee Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I am a huge fan of fishing for panfish, I like to concentrate on bluegill, redears, crappie and white bass. I like fishing for catfish and if I can get the funds, I would like to get a boat set up for fishing large cats on the river systems here in KY, specifically below the dams. I am just starting with largemouth fishing, but up north where I am originally from I loved fishing for northern pike, walleye, perch and smallmouth. I have been known to take trips to fish for saltwater stuff: marlin, flounder, blacktip shark (My father and I hired a guide for two days and just had the best time targeting sharks of South Carolina), tuna ect. Fish Chris Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Am I a multi-species guy ??? X's 10 ! :-) If it will bite my hook, and pull on my line, I'm always down with it ! :-) From Bluegill, to Sturgeon, to Bat Rays, etc, etc.... Fear no fish ;-) Peace, Fish Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted April 24, 2009 Super User Posted April 24, 2009 About 70% of the time I'm fishing, I'm fishing for bass. The rest of the time is split between muskie, and walleye. Falcon Quote
cato Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I fish for mostly largmouth but at certain times of the year when the White Bass are really running we will have a blast catching them in light tackle. I also enjoy the saltwater! Catfish occasionally as well. Quote

Love to fish for it all - bass, bluegill, trout, crappie, mullet, reds, flounder, mackerel, blues, cats, carp - whatever I can find in the rivers, lakes, ponds, streams and coast here in NC. Quote

HogHunter Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I consider myself a multi species angler for sure. Idefinetly spend the most time on bass but make a trip to Canada every year for walleye/pike. Also, i spend a lot of time catching eaters such as: perch, crappie, blue gill, trout, and salmon. Quote
Big Al Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Bass fishermen are almost a minority up here in Wisconsin. The big shiny Rangers and ProCrafts tend to stay out of the Lunds' way . We're lucky to have excellent walleye, musky, pike, panfish, and trout fisheries up here along with the bass. I fish all of them pretty equally, it keeps me busy. Quote
