zaraspook_dylan2 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I was curious as to see who here will spend a day on the water fishing for something other than bass. Quote
J. M. Richardson Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I love fishing for Northern Pike. Also, I like catching crappies when I can find them and catch some slabs in the 11-12 inch range Quote

J. M. Richardson Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Probably (all fish stink). I've never been musky fishing though, so I wouldn't know for sure Quote
AverageJoeBass Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 We fish regularly for bass, but we also like to go catfishing as well. Quote

Its like a mixture of blood and steel its wierd... Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 Bass, Crappie (Sac a lait), Catfish, & a variety of salt water species Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 Living in Northern Michigan presents an interesting selection / collection of species options. Even though the open water fishing season is fairly brief as compared to most of our more southerly located fishing brother and sisters, so many of my local lakes include a very nice list of assorted game fish to chose from. The regular panfish choices including white and black crappie, assorted sunfishes and some very decent yellow perch are almost always available. But often times I am fishing in water that produces both Large and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike as well as Muskie and Tiger Muskie. It is very cool when one of these "non-target" species ends up in the net. It it also a bummer to get bit-off - especially when you're throwing a bait you're not particularly fond of losing :'( So Yes, I am definitely a mutli-species angler - although most of the time the fish make that choice for me........ 8-) A-Jay Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black bass, spotted bass... Quote

Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 I'm primarily an offshore angler. Bass fishing is so darned different that it's drives me absolutely crazy at times. It's just a different method of locating fish for me. Takes much more patience/practice. My next big hurdle is offshore flyfishing for sailfish ;D Quote
sage Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Smallmouth #1 for me with Crappies a close second. Usually pound the crappies until May then hit Erie hard for smallies. Quote

aarogb Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I love fishing for saltwater fish, especially Flounder (nothing compares to the way they taste)!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even though I have not had a chance to do it yet I wouldn't mind going after some Crappie. Quote

Super User iceintheveins Posted April 22, 2009 Super User Posted April 22, 2009 I love bass fishing and catching both largemouths and smallies, but pike are my very favorite fish to catch. They get huge, hit like freight trains, and fight like mad. I also love catching real trout (not stocked catchables), especially in a river. I love walleyes, catfish, anything pretty much. My real best love is ice fishing, especially for pike and lake trout, both of which I fanatically pursue in the winter. Perch, crappie, and bluegill round out my list, I flat out love them all. My favorites in order would be. 1. Pike 2. Real Trout (including lake trout) 3. Bass 4. Walleye 5. Catfish 6. Crappie 7. Perch 8. Bluegill Quote
done Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Anything that will give me a good fight. Around here. mainly Large Mouth Bass, Catfish (these are real fun sometimes), Trout (in the mountains), Gar (got to get into these more this year). Sometimes I will hit up Crappie and Bream as well. Though the bream are mainly when I got my girls with me. Quote

Super User bilgerat Posted April 23, 2009 Super User Posted April 23, 2009 Living in a coastal state, I have the best of both worlds. Many different species of freshwater fish, the shore 1.5 hours away for fishing and crabbing. Quote
andamtoft Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Occasionally, I like to bring back my inner child and fish for panfish like blue gill, perch, bull head etc.. Quote
Ineedanewscreenname20170204 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 For a week or 2 in the Spring and then again in the fall I hit the crappie for the skillet and maybe a trip or two for catfish but mainly Bass. I'll try for some walleye every once in a while but I haven't got them figured out quite yet. If the Bass bite is not dead I'm chasing them normally... Quote
