texasoldtimer Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Do you have a bait you always have tied on in case you see some schooling bass? Just curious what everyone's favorites are? Quote
NCbassproAK Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Anytype of crankbait usually lipless that has a natural bait fish color to it. Also deepending on the depth their in will let me know how deep to go. Quote
6pointbuck2003 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Lipless crank. I go for an off color. I beleive this because, the fish are set on the color of the shad. When they see a different colored lure they take it not knowing what it is and just wanting to get rid of it. This may sound far fetched but it seems to work for me. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted April 16, 2009 Super User Posted April 16, 2009 Super fluke or really just whatever I grab. Quote
aarogb Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I go with a jerkbait for schooling bass. I think that a jerkbait resembles a wounded shad quite well and with all those shad running around it's nice to have something different that the bass will key in on. Quote
texasoldtimer Posted April 16, 2009 Author Posted April 16, 2009 Anyone ever throw a chatterbait into schooling fish. Seems like the vibration and flash would get a great reaction from feeding fish. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 16, 2009 Super User Posted April 16, 2009 If they're schooling it makes no difference, they hit anything. I prefer top lure. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted April 16, 2009 Super User Posted April 16, 2009 If they're schooling it makes no difference, they hit anything. I prefer top lure. Then I guess I am doing it wrong because I have many times where they get so keyed in to the bait they are after that it seems nothing will work at least until you try several things. I have witness a few time where a couple boats would be surrounding the active area throwing the kitchen sink out there and getting nothing until someone stumbles upon that magic bait.Topwater usually works but at times you need to hit a certain depth or toss something that will sink down through mess of bait. You can call my BS now since bass are just way too easy to catch and no challenge : I like spooks the best, also small spinnerbaits burned, and flukes. I am looking forward to trying small swimbaits such as the money minnow and tru-tungsten 4 inch this year as well Quote
senko_77 Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Aruku Shad or a Duper Fluke on a Swarming Hornet. Quote
George Welcome Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 I dont waste my time. "slot fish" You might want to rethink this: This was a result of a cast to shad busting bass: And another - same day: 5 minutes earlier than the one above. This was another golden opportunity fish: I forgot to mention: all caught jerking a Senko through the melee. Quote
SLO_ROLL Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 Will NOT happen on my home lake, I wish it could. NICE fish. I did see some 20-30 pound Flat Heads schooling on gizzard shad one time. Quote
andamtoft Posted April 16, 2009 Posted April 16, 2009 double fluke rig What do you mean by this, i've never heard of it? Quote
6pointbuck2003 Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 GEEZ George why dont you catch some bigger bass? Nice fish!!! Quote
Super User CWB Posted April 17, 2009 Super User Posted April 17, 2009 Fluke or Z-Too Senko Spook Redeye Shad Quote
zaraspook_dylan2 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I like to use a small top-water bait. Or a Booyah spinner-bait. If the top-water fails then I resort to a fast moving bait, such as a spinner-bait, or a lipless crankbait. Quote
spotaholic Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Super Fluke Sebille Gunfish/Sammy Double Rig... Fluke Jr. Quote
