Y'all just stay up there around KC and stay away from SE Kansas.  There isn't much water around here anyway.  Kinda like western Ks.   8-)

ft. scott to far south? also, theres some strip mines on my list, probably in your back yard.............lol.

I don't fish very often in Kansas, but just in case, I included it.

lol. the place #1 on my list no longer has a road to the boat ramp so i think kansas fishermen other than myself will be holding the big fish this year.

sure why not. I'm in for Texas yall. Way to go for the 14 year old ruining that fishes jaw.

What good is its jaw, if the fish is dead, LOL?

I'll play for NY.

The fish was and still is alive.  I would never kill a bass.  I was fishing from shore and when I pulled it up it hit the ground and got some sand and dirt on it.

Probably don't have a chance in hell but I'm in for Maine.

Just to make sure I have this right; both smallies and largies are competing for the same weight? They are not going to be separate?

You are competing against your own state records, smallies and largies should have separate records:

RULES

1.  This is for FUN...

2.  Any Black Bass with a state record is eligible.  You must have submitted your entry prior to midnight Apr 14, 2009.

3.  This contest runs from daybreak on April 15th, 2009 to sunset on May 30, 2009.

4.  Artificial bait ONLY.  If you are sight fishing, the fish must be hooked inside the mouth.  All fish must be caught in PUBLIC fishing areas.  No private stocked ponds.

5.  Scoring of the fish shall be completed as follows:

Example

FW = fish weight = 10.5 lbs  (my pb)

SR = state record Fl = 17.27 lbs

FW / SR x 100 = your score

10.5/17.27x100 = 60.80  rounded to 2 decimals

In order for your fish to count, you must submit a picture, the state record weight for the state the fish was caught in, and an accurate weight of the fish.  Your fish must be submitted within one week of being caught. (No sandbagging)  You may submit as many fish as you want as long as subsequently caught fish are larger.  All fish must be submitted before 7 am on May 31, 2009.

6.  You can be disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior.  The definition of "unsportsmanlike" is completely at the discretion of myself and the moderators.

7.  Entry Fee - You must post your intention to play on this thread prior to Apr 14th.

Directors Note-----Have fun, catch fish, and post your results......

I'm talking about the Kansas state record.  Here is a link to the application.  It seems like a tall order to keep a fish alive for that length of time for all the proper certifications to happen: http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/news/content/download/16395/110860/file/Official%20KS%20Fish%20Record%20App.pdf

Add to that, the kid is holding the fish up in his front yard, and I think I can infer the rest of the story.  Not for nothing, if I caught a state record, its probably going in the cooler.
