Ok, I thought it might be cool to hear what others define as what, as far as topo definitions go.

To you, what is(in a little detail please):

A main lake point?

A secondary point?

A tributary creek?

A pocket?

A creek arm?

An oxbow?

A ledge(crashing ledges with a jig)?

An offshore hump?

A drop off?

Of course some of these are probably simpler than others and wont require too much in the explanation department.

I know some of these and others I am a little lost on and a couple I am totally lost on....lol.

The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked though?

So enlighten me folks and hopefully others as they read this.

If you can think of one I missed that may be important, then please, feel free to add them.

Is a creek arm the same as a channel?

Creek channel is the creek itself; creek bed

Creek arm is a cove off the main lake formed by a creek

Totally off this subject....bassinri....ROFL at the dog in your avatar.....hahahahahahahahaha.

How in the hell did you get him to lay like that?

Back on subject....Oxbow is the one I was totally lost on.I dont do much river fishing and it sounds like it relates to something on a river.

And I still dont know for sure if I get it totally. I guess its better to see one than to have someone try and tell you about it.

Cool, Raul.

Now, forgive me for being dense here, but is the oxbow the circle in the middle of the pic, where the river bends in almost a complete circle or is it the short strip just below that shaped like a light crescent?

Sorry to be difficult, I just wanna make absolutely sure I got it.

The oxbow is the short strip, you can see that the river used to flow through that section, now it 's separated creating the "lake".

One of the reasons why Geroge Perry 's WR LMB is controversial is that people now ( in the present date ) can 't locate the "lake" where it was caught ( Montgomery Lake ), well, the lake ain 't no more ! it was an oxbow lake, those dissapear with time, in 1932 it had water now it 's dry land.

To you, what is(in a little detail please):

Topographically speaking or bass fishing talk for a highland or hill land reservoirs.

A main lake point? Ridge that runs out into the main lake bed.

A secondary point? Ridge that runs out into a bay or creek valley.

A tributary creek? Creek that runs into a stream, or a stream that runs into a river.

A pocket? small indentation along the shoreline, a tiny cove.

A creek arm? When the reservoir is filled, the creek arm is a large bay that was once a creek or stream valley.

An oxbow? River bend separated from the main river bed.

A ledge(crashing ledges with a jig)? vertical wall of rock or cliff underwater.

An offshore hump? Underwater island or raised areas off the lake bed.

A drop off? Any break that drops off into deeper water qwickly.
