Someone took a crowbar and broke open everyone of my storage boxes.  They took everything that I had with the exception of hooks, weights, and shakey heads!  I guess with the poor economy this will probably become a more common thing.  Anyone else having this happen in their area?

I feel real bad for people when this happens.  I absolutely hate thieves.  I hope you catch the culprit and break everyone of their fingers with a hammer.  To me that would be justice.

I'm sorry for your loss man. I too hate thieves! My friend recently got his Nitro broken into as well. They took all his tackle and even his two deck seats. Keep your head up and keep on fishing bro!!!!

Wow that sucks  :-[, I would be devastated. Looks like I will be keeping most of my stuff inside.

Take the extra effort and keep your stuff inside, I wouldn't know where to begin if I had to replace my arsenal again. Sorry to hear...

Sorry to hear about your loss.  That's why I installed an alarm system on my boat.  All in, it cost me about fifty bucks.  Open a hatch, the alarm goes off;  bump the boat, the alarm goes off; move the boat, the alarm goes off.

I now sleep very well at night.

Happened to most everybody in our club 2 years ago in September on the Arkansas River.  We were having a two-day tourney there and we all stayed at the same motel.  We had like 12-14 boats and when we got up the next morning to launch, about half had all the compartments pried open and all tackle and rods stolen.  Never went back.

Sometimes I think about leaving my gear in the car. There probably wouldn't be a problem if I did, but I just can't imagine the feeling of discovering all of it gone so I always take it out. I don't have nearly the amount of stuff that you guys store in your boat, so it's easier for me I guess.

I just can't believe that. The community of fishermen seems to be an honest one. It sucks that someone has to make us look bad like that. I do keep my rods in my toolbox in the back of my truck locked up.

happens alot in vegas during the us open and other finals tournaments. my dad built a system of using four eye bolts and screwed them into opposite sides of the boat. two for the front and two for the back. then he took a fairly thick piece of  aluminum from work and cut two slits in it to slip over the bolts and then he just masterlocks the bar shut. really tough for someone to break into that.

the drawing is not great but its the general idea.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck. It happened to me many years ago. It's bad enough that they steal your equipment, but then they destroy your boat also.

IT SUCKS!!

Now you have to deal with your insurance company. Sometimes that's as big a problem as the theft itself.

Good luck,

Falcon

i had 2 reels stolen once out of the back of my truck. Funny thing is that they took the time to take my reels off of my rods. Kind of ticked me off. Apparently my rods wasnt good enougth for him. But my size 14 old smelly generic Wal Mart work boots were right up his alley. He also took my wifes steering wheel cover(leopard print), seat covers(leopard print), and her air freshners..

Sorry to hear about the theft...My whole boat was stolen in 2005 and was found in a field 3 wks later all the gear, electronics were gone...they couldnt get the motor off and the trolling motor bolts stripped so $3500.00 and 5 months of wrangling with the insurance and re-stocking baits to get back going again....3 other boats in the neighborhood were stolen but they were burned or butchered. The PoPo belive it was meth-heads getting items to guick sell to produce they're drugs. >:(

This is just for my sanity---do you think a Loc-R-Bar could've prevented them from getting in??  I'm curious because I just had one installed, thinking it would prevent this or at least make them go to someone else's boat that doesn't have one.

Sorry that happened to you.  I would be in mourning if my stuff was stolen!! :'( :'( :'(

I also have a Locker bar.  I think it might slow the thief down but not stop them if they wanted your stuff.

Please elaborate on this Long Mike!  Sounds like a project we could all benefit from using your experience.  What type of alarm did you use?  Thanks!

It is rampant down in this area. Locker bars are of no help. They just cut the side of the cap on one end or use the bow strap off the trailer to pull it loose and they are in. Does a ton of damage to the boat.

Why would anyone leave their tackle in the boat. Takes just a few minutes to unload. It's a fact of life now that if you value your stuff you better keep it inside and out of harms way. Sad but that's the way it is now.

My boat sits in my driveway and it is unloaded before the trailer is unhooked. I've been hit and it is no fun. If they get mine now one of us is a dead man.

Sorry to hear about your theft. I had all my equipment stolen several years ago and had some hand made lures that a friend of mine who had passed away made for me(sucks cause they were not replaceable). Try just to get a list of everything you can with replacement cost for your insurance co. I know you cant replace everything but it does help move things along faster. Good luck hope everything goes ok. I now take everything out of my boat (even though it is a hassel) but not as much of a hassel as trying to replace everything.
