Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I really enjoy teaching. Bringing people to their next level. Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 13, 2009 Super User Posted March 13, 2009 I have a bunch! Instinctively knowing what not to do, then doing it! Coming up with grand plans for a lake/bait/technique, and then doing terrible! Catching 4-7 lbers. You can have all your stinking 15+'s but I'll get on them sweet 5lbers all day long, lol. Being way out of position when that fish finally eats and getting a Richard Simmons hookset on her. Missing fish Arguing with lake staff Hitting trout boats with swimbaits as they drive over the point I'm fishing. Sleeping Im extremely good at watching movies Beating the ever loving crap out of rods, reels, and baits Drinking orange juice Making fun of idiots Having buddies that actually catch big fish ;D LOL. Seems you're like me. Good at making excuses. On a serious note, I'm great at enjoying myself while fishing. And that's the bottom line. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 13, 2009 Super User Posted March 13, 2009 That's what I like about Chris he's gone for months then appears out of nowhere tickles the brain then leaves again. Redhed Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 backlashing catching stick fish hooking up stumps and rocks positive note- boat placement and ideas (though ideas sometimes doesnt pay out) Quote
Super User senile1 Posted March 13, 2009 Super User Posted March 13, 2009 Relating to fishing, and comparing myself to the best I've seen in the different aspects of our sport, I'm good at a lot of things but not REALLY good at anything. I'm a jack of all trades and a master of none. Welcome back, Fish Chris! Peace to you as well. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted March 13, 2009 Super User Posted March 13, 2009 I enjoy - and have been successful at - a lot of things relating to our sport of fishing. If I had to pin it down to one, I'd have to say that I specialize in offshore structure fishing for smallmouth bass. And I'm pretty good at it. Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'm great at enjoying myself while fishing. And that's the bottom line. Amen to that, brutha Quote
jimmieO Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Being way out of position when that fish finally eats and getting a Richard Simmons hookset on her. Now that's funny. Been there a few times. The thing that I am really good at is dodging baits that coming flying back at me after setting the hook on some monster water. Quote
Big Mike in Fl Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Being way out of position when that fish finally eats and getting a Richard Simmons hookset on her. Now that's funny. Been there a few times. The thing that I am really good at is dodging baits that coming flying back at me after setting the hook on some monster water. I'm not so good at that...last year on an awesome topwater bite, I got a spook in the nipple when my cousin missed a fish....can you say ouch?!? :-? Quote
bassnleo Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I feel I'm skilled at a variety of techniques and have the ability to adapt and change and get bites. I'm a grinder. When it's tough fishing I seem to be able to kick and fight and always bring a limit to the scale. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 13, 2009 Super User Posted March 13, 2009 Everything....but I'm illiterate and a pathological liar.... Quote
farmpond1 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Forgetting the drain plug and the sunscreen. And using colorful metaphors when the wind is blowing me around a lake. Quote
Daniel A. Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I'm a work-in-progress. I'm comfortable with several presentations, but I don't feel I have a go-to yet. I'd say I'm really good at being persistent. Maybe it's my pride. When I hit the lake, I'm going to catch fish. I may hit several spots. I may change lures frequently. But I will catch fish. Quote
bmadd Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I tend to be real good at figuring out what a good pattern is and then get outfished by my partner using that exact one... Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted March 13, 2009 Super User Posted March 13, 2009 Walkin' the dog. I can work a spook for 6-7 hours straight, and down here in florida, there are many days when I do it too! Ooooooooohhh...I like the thought of that! Quote
wisturkeyhunter Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I think I'm really good at adapting. When the lakes are frozen or bass fishing is closed on them I go to the river and catch bass, eyes, muskies, pike, and cats. Part of living here in Wisconsin is being a dang good multi species fisherman or you aren't going to do alot of fishing. If I am somewheres I need a boat and I don't have one I make the best of it and catch fish from shore. I also think I'm pretty good at catching fish from shore, a big part of shore fishing is being able to get away from the crowd or otherwise do something different. I think I'm really good at that. For example if there is 5 people fishing near me from shore and they are all throwing senko type baits, I'll play around with something else until I get the fish figured out. Quote
AverageJoeBass Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I do real well taking my nephew to fishing spots and watching him catch all the fish even if we are in the same boat together. ;D ;D Quote
bpm2000 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 hooking into someone else's old discarded fishing line at the bottom of a lake. I am seriously on like a 7-trip streak right now and ive been jumping around lakes. Quote
mrbassky Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Breaking rod tips. But on a positive note I have great confidence. On the verge of cocky but not because I have the same mentality if I am fishing by myself or with my best buddy who doesnt care. I can try a technique I never used and fish it with confidence. Most of my buddies have to watch somebody (usually me) catch fish with a new bait to get confidence. My secrets to getting confidence in new baits. I am talking NEW baits or techniques like a chatterbait or swimbait. Not a new color crankbait. 1. Try them in places with lots of fish. Ponds are great for breaking in new techniques. You get confidence after catching a few nice ones. It doesnt have to be a loaded little farm pond even decent small private lake that is easier to fish than a big lake helps. Creeks are great for trying smaller baits. 2. If you dont get to try them in a pond try a new bait in a spot you whacked them on something else. We fished a bank and caught fish on a spinnerbait and we went back down it and I put on a chatterbait. The rest is history and my buddy was asking for a chatterbait very quickly. 3. Know when to throw them and what to throw them on. I always see what action rods and lines throw baits before I try them. Also I look for the times the baits are best and when they are worst. When trying new baits look for times they are supposed to excel and avoid times they arent as good. Just my 2 cents Quote
thetr20one Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I am really good at being a versatile angler. I have said before I am comfortable with all techniques and I am. I guess I would have to say deep water structure fishing is my strongest. My favorite is pitchin and spinnerbaiting shallow cover. Quote
kms399 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I rock at skipping docks. when I fish with 2 people in the boat I have to do a kind of upside down, leaning, over my head cast from my left side so i don't smack the guy in front of me but I cant hit the motor either. I will put 9 out of 10 casts under a pontoon, between the dock post and the boat. we have made a game of calling our casts, good times. I am also stubborn and have great drive. I will fish for 8 hours before i realize I haven't eaten since dinner the night before. and I am a fat guy! Quote
wagn Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Forgetting the drain plug and the sunscreen. And using colorful metaphors when the wind is blowing me around a lake. Me too, I am a pro at forgetting the drain plug. I am good at avoiding the skunk. I always seem to catch something...now if I could only make the fish bigger ;D Quote
