Super User 5bass Posted March 10, 2009 Super User Posted March 10, 2009 I thought that thing was a catfish or a striper. Certainly didn't fight like any bass I had ever caught. The only bad thing about spots is getting into a fight at the ramp when your tourney director doesn't know the difference between a spot and a largemouth. Who's fish are you holding? ;D Thats his partner's fish, Burley had just taken it out of the net when his buddy snapped the pic.... Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 10, 2009 Super User Posted March 10, 2009 Hey, that was the only fish over 1.5 lbs. caught on that trip. Quote
NYYankee Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I feel your pain, we don't have a dink board either ;D Yes we do. It is called "Northeast Bass Fishing." ;D Awe come on man - Lake Erie and Lower Niagara River Smallmouth fishing is the best in the world. Usually gotta quit cause your arms get sore. You have to admit they aren't as lazy as them couch tater fish you catch and lord knows they give up too easily too i second the spot idea! man i caught a 5 1/4 a 4 and 3, 3 1/2 lb spots the other day... biggest of my life! hardest fighting green fish Quote
Blake R. Posted March 12, 2009 Posted March 12, 2009 Spots are down right bad. I love catching them... I'll be making a trip to Lake Martin at the end of the month for some spotted beast fishin' ;D Afterthought: Spots are a bad fish, but a COOSA RIVER spot is dang near evil! I saw a 12 inch Coosa spot take a 6 pound heads lunch money one time Quote

Super User fishinfiend Posted March 12, 2009 Super User Posted March 12, 2009 The spots are on FIRE right now on the Alabama River. My uncle and I caught 26 over the weekend. He has been back twice this week and caught 23 more. I love this time of year. Quote

Triton21 Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 T-Mike, I guess you , I, and the rest of the spot lovers will have to start a repetitive 'We Want A Spot Forum' chain(as in chain letter) thread until we get 300 posts so we can have one. Quote
I Love BassResource Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I have a love/hate relationship with spots. I typically catch dink spots around here, but I did hook into a 3lb-/+ spot last summer that fought as hard as a 4-5lb smallie, which was a blast. Quote

Lets do it. Glen, Fluke, Kent, Highbudgethookers. 1955 views and this post is still kicking . You would have the only spotted bass forum in existance (aside from my personal forum). What do you have to lose Mike ***??? You like fishing for them weakfish?? Quote
Triton_Mike Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 ***, I have to ask. Is Lubbock as boring as Amarillo?? I lived in Amarillo for 3 months and I got bored. The culture was very cool tho. Lots of no stop light towns and between there and Dallas was where over half of the PBR guys are from LOL. BTW I hope you guys grow bass better than you grow trees . I know Alan Henry is a power house. By chance do you know Thad Rains? He's originally from Post, TX. I never fished Lake Meredith tho but I visited it. Very nice country Loved watching the Antelope.. Captain Obvious Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 If you come North of Dallas to Gainesville you'll find all the trees you want, I think we stole them all from Lubbock ;D ;D And if your looking for a good time Denton is only 15 min away and Dallas is about 1hr Quote

Denton was my favorite city because it was home to my favorite lake. Ray Roberts. That was a fun place to fish! I miss Texas especially the DFW area. The hardest part of fishing DFW area was deciding which of the 100 lakes within 100 miles of DFW that you wanted to fish. One time I actually couldn't make up my mind and ended up not going LOL. I don't miss the wind one bit tho LOL Mike Quote
Captain Obvious Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 I love Ray Roberts But there aren't any spots in that lake ??? are there :-? :-? Quote
Triton_Mike Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 I caught one small spot in Ray Bob. They are in there but not in any big #'s. I had some guys email me fishing a tournament on Ray Bob. Due to the size restrictions on largemouth they were askign me about spots since they don't have a size limit . Pretty smart.. Quote
Captain Obvious Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Maybe I should start to learn about spot techniques then :-? Where is the spot talk forum again ;D Quote
