Super User Paul Roberts Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 I am sure you guys have some little things that bother you that realy shoulnt, lets hear them. I had a hard time thinking of any this morning. Must have got up on the right side! But after reading others, YEAH I DO! I agree with many of em. #2 Another pet peave is naming colors after shad, like a red plastic worm called "red shad" Makes no sense !! Its a worm!! and there aint no such thing as a red shad!!! Yeah I know I am being dumb. Why is Green Pumpkin called that?!! It's not green. What's a pumpkin got to do with it? Pumpkins are green! How does this help me choose a color without going to the shop and looking at it?? Losing a new lure before you even catch a fish with it It's just not right. The wives of rich people that don't work. ... Now, this one shouldn't bother me either, I suppose, for the same reason as Natural stated. But, there is something wrong with spending a lot (most?) of your time thinking about yourself, which is what some such people I know do with most of their time. So, in this selfish spirit, I'll let it bother me for a bit. How about the woman I had lunch with who, between talk of recycling and the state of the natural world, righteously returned her drinking straw to the waitress stating, I don't use plastic. All I could think of was all the jet fuel burned to haul her sorry as$ to Nepal for her latest spriitual adventure. Do the math honey. Which reminds me of a great commentary on the urban elite, who fancy themselves as environmentalist/outdoors people, but rarely set foot outside -or at least off-trail. http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2007/dec/30/eyeing-that-hypocrite-in-the-mirror/ Is irk a word? Yup. And a good one. Me, I hate seeing mutilated jaws on fish. It started in my trout fishing. Those popular spots often close to towns or bridges, or famous places that people fish because others (many others) found 'em, before (for) them. So...someone is happy catching fish (over and over again) with mutilated jaws (warped, scarred, and some with both maxillaries gone!), and smiling for the camera! Go find your own fish! Think for yourself! Hike a little, LIVE a little! I know this is kinda unfair, but, it represents something (in my own head of course) that's 180degrees from what satisfies me in my fishing. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 An intense, respectful debate can be a learning experience if we allow it to be. "respectful" is the key word. As long as we feel that is the case, threads are generally left open. An exception is redundancy, which sometimes results in closing, too. We also have a few topics that are simply old and stale. Does Senko vs everything come to mind? Anytime you feel like you have been shortchanged on a thread, send me a PM if you like. We are here to help, not hinder and member input is always welcome. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator p.s. Losing a lure on the first cast just frys me, too! Â You are correct and that's exactly why I strategically placed that word in the sentence. Â Unfortunately, human behavior being what it is, respectful debates devolve into verbal fights in many cases. Â Quote

farmpond1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I hope you don't mind my adding another: Managers who use the phrase "we need to think outside the box" as though that is, in-and-of-itself, original and somehow inspirational. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 People who don't obey the parking signs at the launch's. Especially neighborhood areas, they're going to ruin it for others if you annoy the locals. Baits that cost more than $25+ Quote
Super User flechero Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 Mine is minor- when people use the word "structure" instead of cover. Colors are goofy, but as long as they look similar from company to company, I don't really care. Anytime you feel like you have been shortchanged on a thread, send me a PM if you like. We are here to help, not hinder and member input is always welcome. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator OK, since you brought it up. ;D I've tried a few times but have yet to get anything unlocked... and now that you mentioned it, I don't think I've ever seen one unlocked. The closest was when you (or another mod) said another thread could be started. Is it really more than a click or two to unlock one? : Quote
fishizzle Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I hate when I'm flipping brush, get a bite, set the hook, a catch some braid that I can't untangle and I have to cut out and ruin my spot Quote

Is it really more than a click or two to unlock one? : I know I'm going to sound like a brown-noser but I'm going to interject where RW might not choose to: Â It's their prerogative as to what they allow or tolerate. Â There have been a few times I've felt that a thread was locked a little soon but while the country may be "free", this site isn't. Â If one ventures around the web much, most sites are filled with argumentative and downright nasty people (probably children but not always) exchanging jabs at one another. Â I'd rather give up a few "rights" than have this site choked full of garbage like that. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 I read all PMs I receive and respond to most as do the other Moderators. Although I have never reopened a thread, after review Glenn, on rare occasion, will open a few back up. So, there is a review process. p.s. I did not bring it up, I responded to Daniel My Brother. And back on topic, Guys who don't use clippers. My partner bites 17 lb XT when we are striper fishing and it hurts to watch! We both fish Yo-Zuri #6 for smallmouth and retie 25-30 times a day. Man, it drives me crazy! Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 Unless all ready mentioned, people who do well in the boat until they get to changing out a bait. Â Then it sounds like a sound check for a stump fiddle solo! Quote

Super User J Francho Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 Guys who don't use clippers.I'm a line biter, LOL. Â I have a chipped front tooth that sharper than any clippers out there. Â It doesn't touch braids, though. I have a gripe. Â Mystery knots that randomly show up in your line. Â This happens more to me when trout fishing though. Â Long rigs sometimes knot up on the cast. Â Another would be the first cast/lost lure, or first cast/hung up syndrome. Â I hear its contagious, LOL. Quote

Super User flechero Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 farmpond, We agree, and for the reasons you point out, this is the only fishing forum I regularly participate in. I wasn't questioning the site, the mods or freedom, as I also am quick to point out to people that this site isn't a playground for first amendment liberties. The path I was taking was as someone else mentioned, on rare occasion I think one gets locked up to quickly. I read all PMs I receive and respond to most as do the other Moderators. Although I have never reopened a thread, after review Glenn, on rare occasion, will open a few back up. So, there is a review process. p.s. I did not bring it up, I responded to Daniel My Brother. And back on topic, Guys who don't use clippers. I hope you read it as I intended it... I wasn't questioning thread locking, just that I've neve seen one unlocked. And wasn't sure there was even a "review" once one was locked. Good to know. And to publicly acknowledge this- you have always responded to PM's where a question was asked. And I'm also a line biter... have ben since I was in gradeschool. My dentist hates it and showed me where I have worn serveral previously pointed teeth flat! I'm learning to use clippers... it's just hard to break the habit. ...lol peace out! Quote

Man, it drives me crazy! Irene ..... oh she 's a tough one ! Some things you normally don 't see in the States: GILL NETS ON WEEKENDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! > Man I understand that people make a living out of comercial fishing in many lakes in Mexico, I know that in Mexico it 's difficult for the government to have inspectors to check them commercial fishermen but these people take advantage out of the lack of enough manpower to check them. The law says that commercial fishing activities can take place for those people with license to do so from Mon-Fri, so keeping their nets during the weekends is a flagrant violation of the law. Quote

I actually had to laugh at myself when I did that last time. Funny part is I grew up around boats. My dad had a 18 ft and traded up to a 23 ft cruiser. I used to launch those things all the time. NEVER had a problem. My 1436 though, it is one stubborn little thing sometimes. I have had it for 6 months, launched it I don't know how many times, you'd think it would not trouble me at all. It is frustrating though for the guy who was hoping I would get my tail out of there so he could bring his in. LOL. Quote

Also, when the line gets caught in a treble on the perfect cast therefore ruining it > there it is right there and I will add when you try 20 casts to get through that little gap between a pontoon and the dock post and finally you really skip it back there and you get hung up right away, you have to get up on the dock and try to get it out and usually it is something really simple to get off but you have ruined that dock for fish. Super User WRB Posted February 26, 2009 Super User Posted February 26, 2009 I bugs me when people ask me why I don't eat bass. Also it only takes a second to do spell check---USE IT!!!
