THEbassmaster Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Going to be going South this year for vacation during the summer. We were thinking about Kentucky Lake, maybe somethin a little farther with some bigger ones? Tennessee would probably be the farthest we could go. We love pitching, so maybe some good pitching lakes with lots of cover and structure. Thanks for any suggestions. aaron Quote

Super User senile1 Posted February 18, 2009 Super User Posted February 18, 2009 Are you sure you want to cut it off at Tennessee? I would contact Randall about some Georgia bass. He's posted a lot of huge bass and some DDs on this site. Quote

Captain Obvious Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Got one little phase for you "COME TO TEXAS" we have more 6lbs than we know what to do with If lake Fork or Falcon is to far, Lake Ray Roberts is one of the best kept fishing secrets in Texas and it's close to the border. Lake Texoma isn't to bad either, and as for school, why do you think it's called hookey ;D ;D Quote

He's posted a lot of huge bass and some DDs on this site. I second that. I fished with Randall last year and caught one over 7 lbs. My son and I fished with him last week and a 6+ lb bass was caught by Randall trying to locate fish for us. If anyone can put you on a good bass it is Randall. His rates are very reasonable too. If it's just you and your dad, why don't you save motel bills and camp in one of our campsites in Georgia. Quote
clipper Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Oops, sorry about the rotated pics. I'll try and do better next time. Quote
flipinstick88 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 If you like to flip you should come down to the The Lake of the Ozarks, MO. You could flip dock the whole trip and only cover a fraction of them on the lake and there are plenty of 5 and 6 pounders in there. Quote

Tooth Dr Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I do believe Lake Guntersville in Alabama is one of the top fishing lakes in the US. This is farther than you want to go, but... To check on the Guntersville fishing/catching go to: http://www../bassfish/reports/alabama/ For the five fish tournaments, the total weigh is sometimes over 30 lbs. Years ago I was told there was a five fish total weight of over 50 lbs. I have not done the research to verify. I was also told John Stewart caught 2 ten pounders the same day. Dr T Quote

Plenty of resorts there for all budgets. One note though, It depends on what part of the summer you're planning on coming down. From June - mid July the fish will locate in brushpiles along side docks or on the backside of them. Pitchin and flippin to those fish is about the only way to effectively present a Brush hog or 7 1/2" worm. Once the water temps push upwards in late July on the lake thermoclines the fish move off to the main lake points or brush piles on deeper docks that have at least 20 + feet of water on the end of them. Typical patterns in late summer include C-rigging 10" worms off of main lake points, cranking them with DD-22's or fishing the deep brush piles off the dock ends with T-rigged 10" worms or cranking them with DD-22's.
