tyrius. Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Dang it BigRick, you beat me too it ;D. I always get a kick out of how it seems that California is the only state that knows it causes cancer. I bought a box of firewood from Wal-Mart (I live in the suburbs and can't just go out and cut down trees) and the box actually had a warning on it that is basically the same as the lead warning on fishing stuff. Something to the effect Per the State of California, burning the contents of this box has been shown to cause cancer. Quote
JohnB Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I really don't think you need to worry too much! Back is mid 70's I used a mouth turkey call with a lead base that almost got me into trouble but doctor was smart enough to ask questions, shortly after the ones made with lead seemed to disappear from the market, but if you find one don't use it! I did find a better mouth call not made from lead but that got me into more trouble, called an 80 year old hunter who couldn't see within 30 yards and he blew me out from behind the big pine tree where I was sitting, yes I had orange on just not enough or he couldn't tell the difference, anyway I have been carring 2 double ought buck from a 12 guage mag in my arm ever since! After 30 years the only trouble I have had is trying to explain anytime I need to have an xray done, even had the cops called in once! Ya should have seen the look on his face when he came to gut me..... mostly cause he found himself looking at the barrel of my brothers gun who was hunting close to me at the time. Brother told him if had just waited a couple of minutes longer there were about 8 real turkeys headed right towards me that he couldn't get a shot at! Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Crestliner2008 quotes: X2 - And after 64 years, I'm still kickin' with a great physical report from my doctor! We use to shine up half and silver dollars with mercury and most schools let the kids handle the stuff in science projects. I've been pouring lead weights all my life. So far, no ill effects. Maybe after I'm dead they'll find something? My name is....uh....what was that question again? Your name is Fred, and you are supposed to send me all of your high-end fishing gear. ;D Quote

rfunfarm Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 But we "need" warnings. CAUTION--coffee may contain hot liquid. REMOVE CLOTHES -before ironing. Why doesn't my fish hook say CAUTION-- may catch fish??? 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 18, 2009 Super User Posted February 18, 2009 If you would force feed a rabbit as many carrots as they do lead to "prove" cancer, it would get cancer!!! Quote
