Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 20, 2008 Super User Posted March 20, 2008 saw one of these at walmart yesterday for $40. lemme tell you, this was the MOTHER OF ALL TACKLE BAGS!!! biggest one i have ever seen. it held 8 large boxes, i'd estimate the size of one of the boxes to be about 14"x10". it had all kinds of pockets and pouches and holders for everything. seemed like a very nice tackle bag and i was tempted to buy it, but not sure if i wanna make the investment. anybody use one? are they worth getting? tell me about them! thanks Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Someone posted about this a couple months ago and everyone on here had nothing but good things to say about it. Do a search and see if it comes up. My little brother bought one last night, seems like a great bag, but maybe a little much for a shore fisherman to lug around. Great boat bag though! Quote
rondef Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I have one and it is the best tackle box I ever bought. You can pack this thing up with everything you can think of and then some. I have had it a year and if I ever need another tackle box I will buy a second one. It has 8 boxes to hold all of your lures and they are all configurable. It also has a lot of pockets I think there is 8 of those as well. I say buy it if you can afford it. The only problem I have is mine weighs about 70 pounds when it is packed. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 21, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2008 yeah im they are worth it! i would have guessed tackle bags that size from bigger name brands would go about 70 or 80 bucks! im just not sure if i need a tackle system that big. :-/ Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted March 21, 2008 Super User Posted March 21, 2008 I have the smaller one that holds 4 3700's. It's a good bag. I've had it about 2 years and haven't had any problems with it. Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Same here I have the smaller one, most of my friends have the larger one ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BAGS FOR THE MONEY!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted March 21, 2008 Author Super User Posted March 21, 2008 so the zippers are good and all the other components are good? nothin is gonna break on me? i did see the smaller one, i think it was the 800 size or something, that held 4 large boxes and then another size down (600 size?) that held 2 medium boxes. these bags are very tempting......(i hate you bait monkey) Quote
BASS fisherman Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I have that very bag and I like it alot. If you fill it though, beware they get heavy when you are lugging it around a lake. I haven't had anything break on it and I abused it pretty bad last year. For $40, you can't beat it. Quote
djmax22 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I dont have this bag, but I will warn you about the BPS bag that i bought. Two years of fishing and just about every zipper on that bag broke and the plastic sleeves are starting to rip out. What a piece of junk. I am thinking about sending the bag back to BPS with a letter, but it probably wont do any good. > Quote
Popeye Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 I have the big green Okeechobee Fats and now that I'm fishing out of my Nu Canoe, I went to Walmart on Tuesday and bought the smaller red one. I kinda wasted some $$$s on the Plano System bag that I bought at Big 5 a week ago because the red Okeechobee Fats blows it outta the water for space AND price. I love both of my Fats bags!! Quote

XcoM274 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Got one myself and love it. The zippers are still going good, but we'll see if it makes it through season 2. Quote
wagn Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 It's the best deal in tackle bags in my opinion. Quote
CFFF 1.5 Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 This bag is amazing, I've had mine for probably 3 seasons now and I have not had any problems with it. It hold everything I need. 3 extra spools of line, shiner bobbers, 3 very small boxes I have weights, panfish tackle, and then panfish hooks. I put extra packages of worms in the back pouch. It has a waterproof pouch on the inside of the top flap. This bag is amazing. I had the 800 series and I grew out of it really fast, so I sold it to a friend. Quote
blogger777 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I'm sure that the zippers will last a long time if they are not misstreated. I remember testing zippers on tackle boxes at Wal-Mart the other day. I was trying to zip a cover closed on some other brand and I broke the zipper. How did I do it? Answer: I didn't lift the zipper up out of the way of the corner of one of the plastic boxes and therefore forced the zipper to go around too small of a bend radiius. So, if I would have taken my time and watched what I was doing, it would have been just fine. I bought the 1200 model at Wal-Mart for $39.95 last night. Besides all my tackle, it can also hold rain suits, a tube tent, survival gear, and "The Extractor" Snake Bite Kit. P.S. If you go do a google search on the "ten essentials", you will find a list of the recommended minimum amount of survival gear. To mention anymore about it at this point would be going off the subject, so I won't go there. Quote
TruckMechanic Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I have had the big green one for around 3 years now, I couldn't begin to tell you enough about how well I like it. I have never had anything rip, tear or wear out on mine yet. My only complaint on it is the mesh on the rear has kinda strethched with time but I have to partially blame myself for that I had stuffed it full on occasion. Simply put, I just love it to death.. Popeye Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 WELCOME to the BR Forums blogger777!!! Isn't this site "the cat's whiskers"??) Quote
blogger777 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 This bag also comes with a nice removable red light. The bulb is made from a special shatter-resistant plastic that is patented. Plus the flashlight is covered by its own lifetime warranty "I'm sure that includes the special bulb". Red lights are good because: They won't give you temporary nightime blindness the way white lights can, plus they are good for catching night crawlers, because they won't scare them back into their holes. The light has two modes: 1. Auto-shutoff mode - stays on for 90 seconds. 2. Flashlight mode - stays on up to 10 hours unless you press the button to turn it off before then. Flashlight mode instructions: While pressing and holding the button for a few seconds, you will see the light blink fast, let up on the button now. You can turn it off by pressing the button or you can leave it on and let the replacable watch batteries die after 10 hours. ;D Auto-shutoff mode instructions: While pressing and holding the button for a few seconds, you will see the light blink slow, let up on the button now. You can turn it off by pressing the button or it will turn off automatically in 90 seconds. It is now in auto-shutoff mode. P.S. "Popeye" is right! when he had welcomed me to this site earlier. This site is "The cat's whiskers" Quote
SCBASS Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 For me the larger Okeechobee bag that holds 8 370 boxes was a little too big for my needs but the next smallest (4 370 boxes) was to small. I decided to go with a Bill Dance Plano bag that comes with and holds 6 3750 boxes. So far it has worked out great for me and for $30 it's also a deal. Just trying to give you another option if you are looking for a bag that's in between the two Okeechobee Fats sizes. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_58088_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10 Quote
shocker1310 Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I have it and I love it!!! The shoulder strap is greatness. I'm a bank fisher so lugging a huge plastic tackle box around a pond or lake was killer, with this bag I can hold more stuff and I'm not sore from carrying it all day. That my friend is what they call a win-win, add the fact that it's $40 and now you have yourself a win-win-win!!! The only con was the 90 year-old sales guy at wal-mart who tried to convince me to buy a massive rolling ice chest to use as a tackle box instead. His exact words were: "Son, I'm about to give you the best advice you ever heard. That ice chest is stupid, it don't have a brain. You know what that means don't ya? It don't know what it was made for, you can use it for anything!" -true story Quote
Hawghead Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I got mine this year as well, the big one, it's AWESOME. Holds some serious chit. Quote
MNGeorge Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Does it come with the boxes for $40? As for BPS bags, I have the blue 360 size bag and have absolutely abused it for at least 5 years and it is still as good as the day i bought it. Quote
