This is the time of year I usually hop online and buy my new fishing license.  Ohio's expires on the 28th of Feb, but on the website they show nothing for this year yet.  I guess they are still debating how much more to charge me this year, anyone else having a similar problem?

This is one thing I will never have to worry about again, unless I fish out of state. I got my lifetime license about 15 years ago when they were reasonable. I was able to get lifetime hunting, fishing, and trout fishing for $400.00.

I think they are up around $1000.00 now depending what you get. :-/

In Pa it runs from Jan 1st until Dec 31st.

But you reminded me that I'll need an Ohio license.  Thanks!! ;)

Here in Michigan, our license doesn't expire until March 31, 2009. There have been rumblings about a price hike for a couple years now, but so far it's still $15.00 for a restricted resident license.

$15.00?  WOW is that ever a deal!!

I just got my license the other day.  I paid $38.00 bucks!!

But that includes a trout stamp/erie stamp combo permit.

Illinois runs from April 1 to March 31.  13.00 for a resident licence, 6.00 each for inland trout and lake mich. salmon stamps.  so 25.00 to fish for what ever I want all year.  That being said, It will cost me another couple hundred for our three neighboring states, MI, WI, and IN.

If OH is anything like TN (TN's license also expires on the last day of Feb.), the new licenses aren't available until a week or two before the end of the month.

Idaho runs from Jan 1st to Dec 31st.  I bought mine Jan 2nd.  They are talking about a fee increase this year, but I have mine already.

Louisiana's fishing license runs from July 1 - June 30. The basic license costs $9.50. If you want to fish in saltwater, add $5.50. We're pretty cheap compared to other states. :)

In Alabama, our license used to expire a year from the date of purchase. Last year they changed it so that it expires at the end of August. I guess they changed it to make more money. The old way makes much more sense.

Me too, I two pole permit it. The DFG was going to raise it 20% but it is now being pushed for 15%. Got mine on the 5th of Jan.

Here in Colorado, for years, a license ran from Jan 1-Dec31st. Then your license expired.

In 2009 they've changed it.  A new 2009 license will run from Apr 1st- March 31st.  It will cost about $30.00.  I get 3 extra free months of fishing this year so that's a bonus.

Perhaps your state is attempting to change the expiration month, like Colorado did, and your state just hasn't got it dialed in yet?

Yep in PA they run jan1st thru dec.31. I got mine the second week of january and i paid 32.40 for regular license and trout stamp...last year it was 31 even.

Actually, Just as an FYI in PA the fishing license is good from December to December. For example; You can buy your 2009 License on December 1, 2008 and your covered for the rest of 2008 and 2009. But if you a 2008 license it doesn't do you any good any way. It only works for you if you do not have the previous years license.
